Script Frenzy 2008
Heart Quilt made from blocks from quilters throughout the USA.
Tree of Life baby quilt for my grand-nephew Scoville Fisher Zielinski, born in Japan
Quilting is a metaphor for life. And mystery quilts seem particularly appropriate for my life right now. What's going on in my life and how will it all turn out? That's the mystery and I'm hoping for as good an outcome from Spark People as I have gotten from participating in mystery quilt projects. You get clues one at a time and you work on one segment of the quilt at a time, not knowing how it will all turn out, but trusting the guide to get you that beautiful quilt you otherwise would never have. You just don't really know until the last clue is in and all the various parts are put together just how the quilt will turn out. And it's usually beautiful and not at all what you expected. The best mysteries for me were those using a pattern I would have avoided because it seemed so complicated. So it is with this Spark People approach to a healthier lifestyle. I work on one small section at a time and slowly but surely build to a much more complicated and beautiful pattern than I ever would have attempted on my own.
I''m working hard on choosing realistic goals. Realism has never been my strong suit. Flights of fancy are my stock-in-trade. But I''m hoping Spark People will help bring me a bit closer to earth so I can live longer and dream bigger! My overall goal is simply to get healthier and in better shape one small step at a time.
Track my food as honestly as I can. After all, I can lie to myself and others, but the hips know the truth!
Eat five fruits and veggies each day.
Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
I'm in horrible physical shape. It's shameful and embarrassing. So I'm trying to do baby steps to establish a habit. For now, if I can do a mere ten minutes per day, alternating cardio and strength exercises I'll be ecstatic.
I currently live in Slidell, LA. I got here from a series of moves, starting out in my hometown of Columbia, LA and moving to Texas, back to Louisiana, then back to Texas, then up to Michigan and down to Kansas before finally being able to return to Louisiana.
I used to think I never wanted to live anywhere near New Orleans, but here I am and I love this area more than I ever thought I would.
I hope to stay put down here, partly because if I have to pack my ever-expanding household goods one more time, the little guys with those weird white jackets with the extremely long arms are going to give me a personal fitting! And partly because I like it here. I love the music, the Saints, the food, the laid-back attitude, and the people - -well, a goodly number of them anyway.
I love to read about the history of early Christianity, especially the role of women in the early church.
I love to read mysteries.
I love making baby quilts for charity.

I saw you on the writers workshop team I wanted to invite you to another team (okay so it's mine!) because I'm about to start Script Frenzy this April and need something to keep me on track. The workshop will keep me writing but I need a challenge to go with it and yet want some people who know what it's like to combine writing and staying fit. The team is called, "The Challenge" and can be found on my sparks page. Hope to see you there. I'm starting a new challenge for us this April.

Hi and welcome to our great 50+ Members Team where you will receive lots of support and encouragement from everyone. Just post any prayer requests, questions, comments or suggestions you may have and someone will respond quickly.
You have come to the right place. Take advantage of what Spark has to offer. I want to see you accomplish your goals. Stay focused and keep a positive attitude as this will be a great help to you in your daily life!!! Smile although sometimes that is the hardest, but it really helps!!! And, if nothing else, it makes people wonder what you're up to.
Remember to just take one day at a time on this journey of a lifetime. This journey consists of many small steps, a few speed bumps and pot holes, and a lot of fun. I will be here for you and try to help you on this journey to your goals. YOU can do this!!!
Commit yourself to constant self-improvement — the joy is truly in the journey!
Use your fitness and nutrition tracker daily. Watch your portion control. Be sure to drink plenty of water (8 - 8oz glasses a day) and walk. Water and walking will help you on this journey of weight loss and lowering numbers. Start small if that is all you can do or have time to do and add to it as you are able. Even 5-10 minutes several times a day adds up to bigger numbers and will keep you moving. Invest in a good pedometer (I love my Omron which I just drop in my pocket and it still is accurate. I never got an accurate count with the ones that attached to the waist band…too much belly fat I guess, and I was always losing them or dropping them in the toilet. lol) and see how many steps you currently take each day. Before long you will be adding steps just to see how many you can do and how far you can go. WHAT A GREAT MOTIVATOR!!! YOU can do this!!! I am disabled and this works for me. Take each day one small step at a time — they'll add up over time.
You can make a choice. Tell that little voice to cease and desist with those negative thoughts. Introduce positive self-talk into your life today! You are creating a body that is strong and balanced! From your own efforts, you will make a difference, and you will feel good about yourself. You are a unique, beautiful, and rare individual — the one and only you!
It's good to meet and have you with us.
God bless you on your journey to a healthier you. Take each day as it comes and enjoy it to the fullest!!!
"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift – thus called the Present."
"If you planted hope in a heart today in any hopeless heart,
If someone's burden was lighter because you did your part,
If you caused a laugh that chased a tear away,
If tonight your name is mentioned when someone kneels to pray,
Then your day was well spent."

We were in Slidell, LA two years ago when we spent two months in the Walker/Baton Rouge area for a family member's funeral. Beautiful country down there...please be careful during this hurricane season. I am praying for you that you are safe from Gustav and any more trying to circulate through the area.
May God bless you with safety and comfort as you continue your journey to a healthier you.
