Committed to Results

I have tried to lose weight many times with little to no results. I retired 4 months ago and now have the time to dedicate to reaching the results I want. I have lost some weight before joining, but am hoping these trackers will keep me focused. Also just developed and am managing and trying to eliminate Type 2 Diabetes. Exercise is my weakness however. I have a long way to go but am okay with a slow and steady pace.

Hi Cathy, how does your garden grow.?? Is it that time again?
We had a snow storm a really nice snow day. DH did snow blowing an d I went out and scooped up the little bits the blower cannot get to. I was out there for a couple of hours and I felt a lot better afterwards still no word from the DR. So annoying.

I am cooking Kale tonight and it always makes me think of you. Pat in Maine emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Cathy, thanks we had a real education in our last ice storm. We have a gas heater that has no connection to any electricity. It is a Jotul and it has no vent either so it keeps us warm often. It has sensors for carbon dioxide and we get it serviced EVERY year, We put flashlights in corners strategically located and spent $ 70- no lying in Sam's club 2 weeks ago we needed to use Double A's, triple A's and the big old D's---- 8 of them for our radio back up. emoticon emoticon emoticon
I baked yesterday and we have soup made for dinners. We brought in the gas stove for camping and 4 gas bottles. We also have a can tank if it goes for longer and we have a gas lantern. Just remembering how to use them is an education but we can do it.

ENJOY New Orleans and stay well. Have yourself a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS,((((((( HUGS ))))) Pat in MAINE. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon THANKS for caring!!!

Cathy thanks for the long comments on my page. I love to read about what you are doing. Tonight I had a Spark friend to supper. She made me an anniversary cake and we read your comments. It sound like you are quite self sustaining. A really good climate most of the time.
I was pleased to read the tropical storm will be rain for the garden and relief for you. HUGS Pat in Maine. take care. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Cathy, I too was less than 6 and I walked to our allotment. The government was smarter way back then. They allotted small pieces of land to poor families BUT they had to work on it. My Gran put all of us to help her to tend it. I took a bucket and walked to the place and entered the hen house and stuck my hand under the hens body to take away her warm egg.
Once in a while I was pecked but I knew enough to do what I was told to do. No buts ifs or questions.
I carried the bucket home. Some days boys harassed me and only once that I remember I got home with broken eggs. My Gran made me tell the name of the culprit and the Bobby was informed and they both came to our door and apologized to my gran. How simple life was back then. No fuss no fines just wisdom and respect.
We ate rabbit and some time our own chickens but Gran felt the eggs were more important to our needs so the chickens grew old. I think they knew they were on a good deal. She fed them with her own idea of chicken food. They were given the same castor oil as my brother and I. The chickens took it more readily than we did. Thanks for your comment Pat in Maine.
