59 years old -- and challenging myself to meet life head on.

Update on 9-19-12:

Over the past several months as I have found the energy and desire to work on what I can control and to try not to fret about what I cannot. Exercise and eating better have helped me lose my first twenty pounds -- I am so looking forward to the next several months to see what I can accomplish!

Life's rollercoaster has been in the downhill mode the last two years, and I haven't responded in many positive ways. Since 2009 I gained back 35 lbs of the 40 I had lost the two years before.

And -- feeling old, and out of shape and over the hill. Oh, a whole list of "woe is me".

But on my 59th birthday, in June 2012, I decided that what I could do was lose one pound per week for the next 52 weeks. Not two, not 1-1/2, but one pound a week. Would that not be an excellent goal??

I also decided to work on just one habit every two weeks. I started with water -- just drink a glass -- when I wake up, before every meal, and before bedtime. The second habit was getting out of bed, putting on my shoes and going for a walk.

So far so good . . .

My Initial Weight Goal is to Lose 52 pounds before my 60th birthday in June 2013

Ultimate weight goal is to arrive in the "Normal" BMI range or 145 lbs.

Learn to change my habits -- one at a time -- being more mindful of what I am doing and why

Be strong, lean, flexible, and joyful in my accomplishments
