Enjoying My Lifestyle changes

My name is Joe, and I am 45yrs old.
I have been with SparkPeople for 1 month now. I started at 340 pounds on our old scale, not knowing that it was way off. We bought a new scale several weeks ago and it lies, but with addition and subtraction it looks like I started at 360 pounds. I have however lost 37lbs. in a month. I have been with SparkPeople for 1 month now. I started at 340 pounds on our old scale, not knowing that it was way off. We bought a new scale several weeks ago and it lies, but with addition and subtraction it looks like I started at 360 pounds. I have however lost 37lbs. in a month. I thought that having to count and and do portion control was going to be hard, but it took retraining my way off thinking and the way I cook. I have always been the one that cooks for the family and now for my wife(Roxanne) and I who is the one that ask me to join. The first week was the hardest counting and measuring but I catch myself doing it all the time now without thinking.
Exercising was another big change. When I was growing up and playing football and then went to work in the Oilfield
I was not small, but I did work out all the time. Starting again was difficult, I had to start at 10min. a day on our treadmill and work my way up to where I am now at 30min/2miles 2x a day We also bought a home gym and we do regular work outs with weights 3x a week as well as full body floor arobics 3x week. we do however give ourselves a day of rest 1x a week for our bodies to rest.
The changes we have made in our lives are making us healthier, more active, and feeling better about ourselves. We know that there will come a time when the weight loss will platau due to muscle gain, but to keep going because inches will still be coming off. This is our new lifestyle that Roxanne and I can be able to spend alot more of our lives together.
Since we have started this change in our lifestyle my blood pressure has improved greatly. Even after a 30min/2mi. walk and 20 min. cool down it is now 121/69 at 89hr. that is so awesome. I do not run out of breath like I used to and feel more energetic than I have in years. Remembering to keep my wits about me and don't let the platau's get me discouraged when it comes, cause it always comes and everyone platau's.
I am going to keep putting one foot in front of the other, and doing it one day and one step at a time.
