Here we go again!

The last time I posted a blog entry was July 2012 - not something to be real proud of. I had just started a VERY part-time job in April 2012, cleaning the Barton Post Office for 1 hour, 6 minutes every weekday. Not enough to live on, but it has led to something more worthwhile. In September '12 I was hired as a PSE at the Post Office, to replace a retiring clerk. And just this past October I was converted to a full-time clerk. Although we've now gone to pre-sorted mail (and a cut in clerk hours) I still retain my cleaning gig so if things stay as they are, I'll be getting close to 40 hours a week.

Unfortunately, things aren't going quite so well for my husband Chris, who has been unemployed- AGAIN - since April 2014. It doesn't seem that the USA has truly recovered from the recession, and it may have something to do with Chris being over 50 now, but the jobs (he's a software writer) just don't seem to be there. I hope he finds something - anything - soon, we just barely missed being foreclosed on and it's a huge stress for me to be covering ALL the expenses.

So I'm back to Sparkpeople - while my job at the Post Office is fairly physical - a lot of standing, walking, bending and lifting - I've found my body is used to that kind of activity. I haven't been able to budge past the 235-pound mark in a couple of years.

M&M's Thought Of The Day:

Fitness in is earned, not bestowed - a process, not a magic trick - an investment, not a miracle.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
