Learning to Be Healthy

I've been here for almost three years now. In that time I've made a lot of progress in meeting my goals. My weight is at a healthy level, and I'm focused on creating a healthful diet and an active lifestyle that I can maintain forever!

I've been here for almost three years now. In that time I've made a lot of progress in meeting my goals. My weight is at a healthy level, and I'm focused on creating a healthful diet and an active lifestyle that I can maintain forever!

Since April '09 I've been here, trying to get a healthier diet and life. I continue to work on building healthy habits, cutting back on refined sugar, eating more fruits and vegetables, and creating a better daily diet for myself in general. I try to exercise 3-4 times a week. My favorite activity is taking ballet classes, but I have a hard time getting to them these days. I also dabble with Wii games (EASA, DDR, Just Dance and Wii Fit), walking and jogging.

My Goals:
Improve my eating habits with healthier choices, including eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables daily; decreasing the amount of refined sugar, white flour and sweets I consume; making time every week to exercise.

Other Information:
SP Goals for 2012:

*Keep deficit at around 250-300 daily
*Burn at least 1750 daily - minimal activity level for me
*Keep sodium under 1800
*Work on reducing overall carb grams - not sure of a number to aim for but I feel better when my protein is a bit higher and my carbs are a bit lower.
*Flax seed daily
*8 glasses of water daily, not counting coffee
*Check in daily on SP and keep up with SP friends for mutual support and encouragement

Thanks for your comments on my blog! I never realized you were a high school math teacher too - we tend to have so much in common. Although it seems all mine keep quitting - hubby with teaching and daughter with dance :) Hubby has been offered a job at our local catholic school but I think he wants to just take some time off teaching altogether to see if there is something else out there he likes more. He knows he can tutor basically as much as he wants if he doesn't have anything else lined up by fall so he may do that - we'll wait and see. I'm just trying to get back on track and stay positive about it all - and your support helps! Thanks again!

Awesome. I have a BodyMedia GoFit also. I'm still not sure I love it, but for the amount I paid, I'm using it for awhile. I just thought of a book I found on my mom's shelf a year or so ago. It's called intuitive eating and is about retraining yourself to better hear your body's signals. Jut another thought. I hope you figure things out though!
