Learning to Be Healthy

(April '15 update) In August of 2014 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then I've been going through treatment: chemo every three weeks from 8/28/14 to 12/15/14, surgery on 1/9/15 and radiation from 2/12/15 to 4/1/15. I'm doing well, and now more than ever I want to focus on eating healthy, whole foods and getting at least 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week.

I've been here for almost six years now. In that time I've made a lot of progress in meeting my goals. My weight is at a healthy level, and I'm focused on creating a healthful diet and an active lifestyle that I can maintain forever!

Since April '09 I've been here, trying to get a healthier diet and life. I continue to work on building healthy habits, cutting back on refined sugar, eating more fruits and vegetables, and creating a better daily diet for myself in general. I try to exercise 3-4 times a week. My favorite activity is taking ballet classes, but I have a hard time getting to them these days. I also dabble with Wii games (EASA, DDR, Just Dance and Wii Fit), walking and jogging.

I'm glad you are enjoying Life Over Cancer. I also really liked Dr. Susan Love's "The Breast Book" and "Anti-Cancer" by David ......

Anticancer and Life Over Cancer are very similar. Dr. Love's book is just about breasts and breast cancer. I wish every patient was given a copy of Dr. Love's book and required to read it immediately upon diagnosis. I didn't read it until after I had chemo and I think I might have already had surgery as well. I learned a lot from it.

I get TCHP 6x, every three weeks. Round four is halfway done. My onc decided to run an echo and ekg before letting me do the herceptin and perjeta, so now I'm waiting on those results tonight. Hopefully I'll keep my 9am appt. Monday to finish with those two and check off round 4 as being done!
