Year of the change

In the past 10 years my body has slowly changed, so that I don't feel comfortable with it any more. I'd like to have my former fitness and energy back, but I'm now living in a place where it's not so easy to stay fit without a lot of self-motivation (which I don't have). But with the start of this new year, 2009, I'm determined to find ways to lose weight and stay fit.

We have more ability than will power, and it is often an excuse to ourselves that we imagine that things are impossible.

Hi, I used to live in Vienna and went to Meinl in the first district. Near the Stephansdom. I always found lots of good food there.
Myself, I now prepare a salad that keeps well and when I feel like food, I just take a handful and add fresh condiments. Every day I have a different salad. and to this a crusty bun - if you like I give you more ideas.
I also used to have a lab, what a faithful companion, went with me to nine countries, the ideal travel mate, love to climb those hills that lead to the old ruins of castles along the Danube river very near Vienna.

Hi Casey,

I am not self motivated either. @ least not in the fitness area. I don'tlike to workout @ all. But let's take a deep look @ your childhood what did you enjoy? That will become your way to get fit. Swings @ the park, jumprope, hopscotch, redlight greenlight, freezetag. Those are the ways I started to get in shape, the children love it and laugh laugh laugh, I relax with no pressure. i've told myself I'm not working out I'm having fun with my family. I see you have a dog photo, if you don't have children in the home go roll around with you dogs. tug of war with the dog. Something fun for you, that will be burning calories @ the same time. Dancing, do you like to dance? I dance and sing around the house... That burns calories as well. You can do, I know you can so get started... Remember your goal is to have FUN burning calories will happen as well....... emoticon

Hi Casey,

Just rejoined the "Getting Fit in Austria" Board and hope to hear more from someone else in Vienna working on healthier living and fitness.
