Deterred, but DETERMINED

hey hey...
After a rollercoaster journey with dieting and fitness, I received some bad news regarding my back two weeks ago. I have a reversible, but serious condition that affects my spine, and consequently the muscles around it, which in turns causes frequent and painful spasms and a locked spine. I have begun physical therapy but my new passion for running has to be put on hold. It is crucial that I stick to a healthy eating plan so that I don't balloon up during this time.

After a rollercoaster journey with dieting and fitness, I received some bad news regarding my back two weeks ago. I have a reversible, but serious condition that affects my spine, and consequently the muscles around it, which in turns causes frequent and painful spasms and a locked spine. I have begun physical therapy but my new passion for running has to be put on hold. It is crucial that I stick to a healthy eating plan so that I don't balloon up during this time.

I have reached my first goal, and that was going from my highest weight, 134 to 127! My goals for the month of June are:
+ lose 3 pounds
+ drink more water
+NO FAST FOOD!
+ No drinking!

I am saddened by all the obstacles I've encountered and that my fitness journey is temporarily put on hold. But, I am determined to stay in shape, cook healthy foods, go for walks and slowly get back into a sensible work out routine! If anyone has back issues and can recommend any stretches, exercises, etc, I would love to know!

My Goals:
My current goals are to lose 3 pounds by July 1st. I unfortunately can't run or engage in any sort of intense cardio/weightlifting regimen. I am now in love with yoga, and I would love to practice 1-2x a week. I am committed to healthy eating and I would like to try a new recipe from the SparkPeople arsenal once a week. I am also not drinking until July 1st . Kind of scary, but it's a challenge I welcome. I know I can do it!!

My Program:
Yoga and Physical Therapy 4/ week. Passive exercise, such as walks after dinner or on my lunch break. Perhaps some light hiking when I'm feeling stronger.

5'3, 22 years old, lover of orchids, all things pertaining to the beach and tea!

Hi. I was just checking out peoples pages and came across yours. I've been a vegetarian for over 2 years now and eat mostly vegan. I have some great healthy recipes if you'd like some? Also check out vegweb.com for some good recipes. Good luck with your therapy and getting back into exercise:)
