My Name is Carrie, I am a full time RV'er living in California (for now!) I Stopped smoking on 11/10/09, and now I find myself eating everything in site. Once I found this site, I thought I was way over eating, however now I know that it's not the calories, but the type of food. I never ate this many calories (I calorie counted daily, not going over 1100) and when they said to eat 1280 - 1500 (something), I thought they were nuts. But, after 1 week and 4 pounds later, I know these folks must know what they are doing. So, here I am, ready to get SKINNY, or at least skinny for me.
I quit smoking on 11/10/09, and now I am shooting for 35 pounds in 1 year. Hopefully, during that time, I will learn how to maintain and not doing the yo yo thing. My age is not helpful, (in weight loss) so my goal is to learn the best way to loose, and keep it off.
I am trying to burn at least 800 calories a week, by walking (at least 4,000 steps a day), yoga, and strength & cardio exercises. Once I start burning those calories, I know the weight will start to drop.
I am a 64 year old widow with a wonderful little 5 year old Pomeranian named Rosie. She and I are full time RVers and we travel from Oklahoma, Arizona, California, Texas and back again. Rosie and I currently Camp Hosts at an RV park in Northern California. Not sure how long we will be here, but where ever God leads us, we will go there.
So many times in my life I have gained and lost weight. I was over 200 pounds the year my husband passed (2004). I dropped down to 145, but now here I go again, up, up, up. I am praying I stop this cycle and, Iwill be around to see my 4 Great Grandchildren grow up.

Hi Carrie, I to am 64 and I traveled for 6 years all over the US living in a 30' tag-along RV. I loved it and wish we still had it. Yours is a lot nicer than the one we had, with those pull outs and being a fifth wheel.
I just wanted to say I know how you feel. I have had a harder time losing weight since I joined SP and am in my 60's than I did when I was in my early 50's. I have often wondered and thought that as we get older our bodies just don't respond the things that use to work for us, when it comes to losing weight.
I wish I new the answer, but I won't give up, even though I have had that thought from time to time.
What worked for me when I was 51 was eating very low-carbs. I lost 50 lbs from Oct. to Apr. But, when my daughter had a stroke I lost focus on my diet and gained it all back. Since was 62 I have been here on SP and was back on Atkins low-carbs and all I have lost is around 22 lbs. I am now trying Raw and Whole foods. We shall see what happens.

I am not sure if this is where I update or not, but here goes. One month on this plan, and I lost only 4 pounds. That was my first week. I don't know why I am not losing! I try to walk a lot. But of course I still have not reached the 10,000 steps. I have reached as much as 5300 but, that is not enough. I am not loosing inches either. What is my problem??? I have tried several exercises, purchased the pedometer, ball & band, which I use daily but with the calories, I am not burning anything that shows a weight or inch loss.
