Thanks for all the supportive comments & goodies.

Step by step, I'm continuing to learn how to manage my life. It may be slow but it IS happening. I appreciate all the encouraging words on my page, photos & blogs. Spark friends are great!

I joined SparkPages in 2007 & was honored to become a Spark's Motivational Member on 8-5-10. Thanks to all my Spark friends who helped make that happen. Wow! I'm overwhelmed by all the support & appreciation. Thanks!

Don't forget that the scale doesn't always tell the whole story. Have you measured yourself lately??? You may just be amazed at what you discover!

I hope you can keep your flame burning high to reach your designated goals.

Remember when all else fails, persistence prevails!

My Goals:
Keep what works, eliminate what doesn't!

get off couch with rocking to do it, get into truck without shortness of breath, not worrying about chairs with arms & whether I'll fit or being sturdy enough to hold my weight, walking without canes or rolling walker & without gasping for breath, liking my reflection in the mirror or images in photographs, feeling good wearing clothes that fit comfortably.

Learning to measure successful behaviors, not numbers right now. i.e. keeping daily food log on my laptop.

My Program:
Moderation in all things. Use Spark Nutritional & Exercise logging tools. Drink plenty of H20 daily, take daily prescriptions & vitamins, stretch when I wake up & before & after exercise, apply lotion to my skin regularly. Ride my exercycle at least one time a week. Pilates three times a week.

Give myself small non food rewards for following through on weekly commitment.

Treat myself lovingly & be mindful in all my actions.

Personal Information:
Learning to love myself as I proceed on this journey toward my new ending.

I'm counting the steps I've made, not the steps I've missed.

I am learning to increase my SPARK & help ignite other Spark friends.

We write down things to do for a date and each of us write down 12 things. I cut them out and put them into a container. The first of each month, one of us chooses a slip of paper out of the container. My husband chose for January: "Plan a quiet meal for two and snuggle afterward." We too are homebodies.

I don't know if the violence here is drug related or gang related. Last Fall, a police woman dressed in regular clothes, came by and asked if we would answer a survey. The police here are trying to get citizens active in fighting crime. My Dad was a game warden and could see crime increasing. He said people used to sit on their porches and everyone knew everyone in the town.

We live where most houses are owned. We moved when many got old and went into nursing homes or died and their homes were then sold and rented out. Home ownership makes a difference in a community. When places went to rentals, nobody took time to get acquainted with the renters. Some were criminals and you couldn't leave anything of value outside. Bicycles were stolen. Seeing drugs being sold became common place.

One of our neighbors here told us that he went out one morning and found a man sleeping in his camper. Another neighbor had his car broken into and still another woman came out of her house to find someone in her car. She asked the man what he was doing and he said he had permission to use the car. She called the police and neighbors helped until the police came and arrested the man in her car.

I don't think we escaped crime by moving and I look for it to get worse. My first rottweiler moved with us from our old house. I could tell her to, "Get him!" and she would go through the house room by room and go into the basement and come back to me.

There have been shots fired a few streets away and we don't go into that area on foot. Last night was too close to home.

Hubby plans on going to a doctor today if he can get in to see one.
