I am a native of Chicago who has lived in Southern New Jersey for many years...so many that I almost feel like a native, although I grew up in the Midwest.

I am now retired after three careers as newspaper reporter, English teacher and owner of a small graphic arts/writing business. I am now pretty much relegated to home in Millville (albeit a lovely one, in the woods). I also recently bought a condo in Ocean City, N.J., and am looking forward to spending time there this summer.

I now must report that I lost my husband of 50-plus years last November, 2016. He had been suffering from Alzheimer's and a variety of physical ailments...a stroke finally did him in. He had been staying at a "memory care" facility but spent his last days at a hospital and then went to hospice, where he stayed only a day before the end came.

I am now trying to keep as busy as possible as I adjust to life alone. I keep thinking of the good times and miss him a lot. But life must go on and I must learn to accept whatever fate decrees.

My Goals:
To maintain my weight and continue a healthy lifestyle that includes daily exercise, the fountain of youth! Also have been following a modified vegetarian diet for many years (no meat or poultry) in recognition of my compassion for all animals.

My Program:
 Limiting carbs and portions
Striving for exercise 5 days a week: aerobics, walking/running, weight training, spinning.

Personal Information:
I grew up in Chicago, moved to Pittsburgh as a senior in high school and came to South Jersey after graduating from Penn State's School of Journalism. Have been here ever since!

As you might tell from some of my photos, I am an animal lover and presently have two dogs and one cat. Lost my other cat last summer due to a mysterious ailment but happy to still have Callie, the calico.

Other Information:
I try to stay busy and focused and keep a positive outlook on everything. Sometimes it's difficult, but usually I succeed.

Carol our in ground pool is over 40 years. We do it our self and save money. I have been in 15 minutes this year and no-one else has time for it,

40 years ago the yard was just grass. We planted pines. We did not have many pines in UK, in fact no trees where we lived. A concrete jungle.

Now we are facing remove the garage, pine trees or take down the perimeter fence and the metal chain link fence.

Or we can buy a new liner and add steps. We always used ladders till my back and knee cannot do ladders.
We are asking realtors, and we are getting the pool guy who always have fixed our pool We have 43 years with him. So we are having it all costed out so we hope to do the correct thing. We loved it for all those years and we have to DECIDE NOW!

Thanks Carol I have X-rayed others many times.
I thought they would not be this PAIN. I walked a lot last week I was walking with my walking friends and we just chat and never thinking about our knees. They are older than I and they do complain sometimes. I was walking alone and one came back from Maine so we had a catch up time. (((((HUGS))) and Thank you Carol. emoticon emoticon I appreciate the input for sure.
