My husband (FranklyAmused, real name Mike) joined Sparks 3 weeks before I did, leading the way. Finally I decided to actually commit to working toward health using Sparks - after all, I'd been exercising and doing portion control. We both want to be healthy so we can continue to enjoy our time together.
We are seeing wonderful changes, too - we began in May to use Sparks, purchased an elliptical trainer, and embarked on a mission to learn as we went about nutrition and fitness. Our already healthy vegan diet became even better in terms of balance (it is possible to be a 'junk food vegan' and certainly, to fail to watch portion size).
I'm adding this note in mid-November. We've joined a nearby gym, and do strength training 5-6 days per week, and have been walking/running at a local park. Both of us began just by walking, then have begun to run in small intervals, increasing as our bodies felt right about it. Today I am beyond pleased to have run a total of around 1 3/4 miles, with 2 1/8 mile intervals of walking. Better still, Mike is running the ENTIRE circuit, which is around 2 miles straight. Several months ago, we began with 1/8 mile, which was really pushing it!
Mike is looking tall and (shockingly!) thin - it is a major thrill to see him run. Nice legs, too :) It's going to take me a little longer, and I doubt I ever look tall, but hey - I can dream! His legs are approximately twice as long as mine, or so it seems.
We've ordered some tennis rackets online and are looking forward to having fun and a good workout with those. It's truly wonderful to enjoy ourselves in an active way like this. Sure beats couch potato-hood.

11/15: Done! I hit a plateau, but that happens.
Fitness: run 1 mile without collapsing :)
DONE!!!! Onward to 2 miles.
Note: this was a mile in intervals. Today (11/28/2010) I ran approximately 1 1/4 miles without pause, for the first time!
New goal: 1 1/2 miles without pause
Mini size goal: 16
Reward: new slacks and top
Done! Well - you know how womens' clothes are. I still wear some 1x stuff - and in some brands, 1x=14-16.
New goal: 175: running skirt!
I'm tracking nutrition and doing strength training, as well as interval work in walking/running. We use the nutrition tracker as a planning device, rather than as a way to reflect what we've already eaten.
FranklyAmused and I are in Texas and we motivate one another - we're also newlyweds! We're also vegan, though he's been vegan way longer. We love curries and cooking. He does almost all the cooking right now because I'm working on my dissertation.
It's hard for me to come up with interesting stuff about me right now because what I do is: work. When I'm done with that, I work. I do allow myself to read fiction (or non research related literature) in bed, which means 1) it takes forever to finish things an 2) most of my books have bent pages (surprised they're not drooled on, too!)
Note added: I lied. I also work on the 3 courses I'm teaching.
