BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WEEK/MONTH. Oct./2010-Tho not a "pink" person, I've changed my page color in honor of this imp. issue & it's survivors. My way of showing support this month, tho I don't have cancer myself. July/2010 - Well, I'm finally getting to update this page, as it's my 1 yr. Anniversary on SP this month. WooHoo!! I'm please to say that I am NOT a couch potato anymore! I exercise every day. I LUV the pool and walk a lot. Even do strength training all week long. So, that's my steps forward... On the food front, it's steps backward. Tho I'm eating healthier, I still eat too much...way TOO MUCH (LOL)! So, I go over my calorie allowance consistently. That's my big goal for this year, to stay within my allowance consistently. SP has been GREAT! this year. I started out slowly last July, and built 'til I'm getting awards for attendance and consistency. WooHoo! I love racking up the points! and buying Goodies for myself and others. LOL The rest of my life is pretty much the same. I do a lot at my Church and am starting a job caring for a man just out of a nursing home. I'm depending on SP to help me stay motivated and focused, so I can reach my goal this year. July/2009 -I've been on every diet and have lost and regained weight time and again. Now my health in involved as I have diabetes, so it's not just a matter of my clothes not fitting and wanting to look good. My current goal is modest, only 8 pounds over the next month. Help! I'm retired and living the good life in Florida. I thank God every day for this wonderful life I have by much volunteering at my Church. Getting down to my goal weight would make me more comfortable on my feet during these activities.

My Goals:
I definitely would like to lose weight...100 lbs. Keep increasing cardio and strength training until I reach recommended amounts.
My Program:
Food: the SP caloried guidelines: less than 1700 calories/day. Cardio: 20 min.6x/wk Strength: 3x/wk, working up to acceptable sets & reps. Flexibility: Stretch after each session above & start some Yoga. 8 glasses of water/day 55 Spark Points/day---for motivation & fun.
Personal Information:
S, F, 65, no children, no pets, no smoking (LOL) I grew up on Long Island, NY and worked the last 20 years in NYC...so I'm a real NewYorker. But in between I lived in Vermont, N. Dakota, and California. Now, I'm in Florida...retired.
Other Information:
Who would have thunk, but in this life I'm a "church lady." All my activities revolve around my Church and my trust in in the Lord to see me through, even this constant struggle with my weight. I'm involved in two main projects: a Literacy program to teach English to people whose first language is not English, and we cook dinner for a homeless camp of 300 people once a month.
