I am so happy today! I feel a great accomplishment. I have lost 40 lbs. ! My counter below says I started at 198, but I really started 4 years ago at 227-the highest I had ever been! I've also had a baby (at 44) and got back to my prepregnancy weight within 2 months!
I am PROUD of my accomplishment and feel encouraged. Now today is the first day that I weighed 187, so i could be a little water loss, but none the less I will now fight to keep that there, and continue on my journey to ...

I am PROUD of my accomplishment and feel encouraged. Now today is the first day that I weighed 187, so i could be a little water loss, but none the less I will now fight to keep that there, and continue on my journey to loosing 49 more pounds. I think it will take me another 1 1/2 to 2 years, but the good thing is I've learned to keep it off!

Below you'll see that "I am no longer prediabetic." Unfortunately my body is not responding, and I am again prediabetic, so I need to loose the next forty pounds faster so I can avoid that horrible disease. I've seen what it has done to my Dad, and he managed it well for 40 years, but at 74, he has the body and health of a 94 old sick man. I know i can do this. I am going to become active again in Sparkpeople, and I am going to exercise everyday again! I promise ME.

It took me 2 1/2 years to loose 32 lbs. but I am no longer borderline diabetic, nor do I have high blood pressure. I never took medication. I just kept reading as much as possible about nutrition, a lot from Spark People, but the one book that also helped a lot to learn about how the body processes food was THE SOUTH BEACH diet. I never did the diet, but did change a lot of my eating habits.

I need to loose 50 more lbs. and I feel healthy and happy and feel good about how I look. It's made me a better wife, mother and friend.

Hey Carmen 213,
Just stopping by to see how you are doing. I hope you are still Sparking. Stop by our mutual team sometime (Survivor's of SP April 12-18,2009) maybe we can interact better. The summer chatter thread seems to be a good place to meet others and stay up to date. Or the scale tales is a place to unload (any type) of feelings.

I saw you post on 10lbs in Feb challenge. I just wanted to remind you that we learn from the pitfalls in life. Plus, now you have the challenge to help motivate you. Good luck and don't beat yourself up. We're human, not perfect. emoticon

I sure know what you mean that "skinny" people lose 2# when they see they are "UP" on the scale and don't let it turn into 50# before they do anything about it. I stayed thin for years and years (until I was 41) by doing just that. Now I am determined to get it back off. I'm having gallbladder surgery next week, so after that is over, I hope to be back on track and seeing that tracker move DOWN.
