Hello Sparkies.

My name is Carla and I am 31 years old. I am the youngest of 5 children, have 4 nephews and 2 nieces, great friends, and awesome sisters.

As a child I was always skinny and didn’t develop this weight problem until I graduated high school (I was 145 when I graduated). I was always obsessed with my weight though (looking back at old pics I’m not sure why, I was FINE if I have to say so myself). I have always been a runner and was often teased for being skinny. One the weight gain occurred I noticed I had a few curves and that wasn’t a problem for me (genetics is a great thing). I am a pear shape so I loved having a small waist, flat stomach and wide hips…until I reached 177lbs. I noticed rolls where I never had them before, and creases in my back(I call them back fat) that I HATED. So, now I have resorted to my old eating habits to get this weight off once and for all. No more emotional eating, late night snacking and eating sweets all the time.

I start my teacher certification program on March 22, 2010 and am so stoked. Currently, I work in Corporate Trust and banking is not a good career fit for me. I like to motivate and inspire people to do their best and am not doing what I love.

I LOVE TO:

Make people laugh, spend time with friends and family, play with my puppy Leia, workout, talk, text, motivate people, dance, and learn new things.

I DO NOT LIKE:

Cheaters, liars, spicy perfume (someone gave me this as a gift and I hate it btw I wore it yesterday…yuck), slow music, and fake people.

My story:

I am just like most of the people on SP and am unhappy with my current weight. I have been a member for several years and finally have decided to actively use the site. I started SP at 177lbs. My highest weight ever was 186lbs. My overall goal is to lose 20lbs before my 32nd birthday (June 10th) and if any extra weight loss is accomplished I’m fine with that also. I don’t track my food and things as I should but logging in on a regular basis is a start, right? LOL

Recently, I decided that I would sign up for a 5k (although I jog that distance all the time) but want to officially do a race. Eventually, I want to complete a half marathon and plan to do that in 2011 (or before...maybe). Running in the winter and spring months are my favorite times to run.

My Goals:
My overall goal is to be healthy and reduce my body fat. I would like to fit in a size 8-10 comfortably, lose 15-20lbs, and be able to increase my endurance.

My Program:
Nutrition: My challenge has always been preparing meals at home. Also, I need to reduce the intake of sugar and carbohydrates. I work downtown, and have a great selection of restaurants that serve awesome desserts, pastries and cakes. This will be a challenge but I’m certain I can make the change. The change I plan to make is to eat meat and veggies only and not have dessert after every meal. Lastly, I plan to incorporate more fruit in my diet as well.

Exercise: I am an active person and I love to run/jog at least 2 or 3 times a week. Also, I work in downtown Houston and have access to the tunnel and walk during my lunch most days. Another way to include cardio in my day is to take the stairs. I work on the 16th floor and walk at least 9 flights of stairs a day.


Personal Information:
Born in Chicago, IL but raised in Houston, TX. I am a daughter, an aunt and a great friend. I enjoy spending time with family, watching movies, and shopping.
