My Program:
I aim to workout 5-6 days per week, with running and weight lifting being my focus. I also incorporate HIIT sessions on the elliptical and have recently started using the stairmaster.

Nutrition: I follow Dr. Joel Fuhrman's Eat To Live guidelines Monday - Friday, and for 3 meals on the weekend.

Personal Information:
I live in North Carolina with my husband of 18 years, adopted Beagle Charlie [aka Prince Charles], ornery black cat Edgar [aka Basement Cat], and 2 rescued orange tabbies, litter mates Malcolm & Seymour, [aka The Golden Boys].

I enjoy gardening, motorcycling with my husband, and the great outdoors. I love to read, and enjoy watching BritComs, dramas, and mysteries.

I love to travel, especially to Ireland. We started going to Ireland in 2003, and have been every other year since then (4 times total).

I love animals and am concerned for their welfare. I have recently become involved in volunteer transport of dogs, typically ones that have been pulled from shelter situations here in the South, to a rescue group or forever home in other parts of the country.

I think you asked about non-egg choices for breakfast?

I eat LEFTOVERS a lot. You just have to get over the idea that certain foods are 'for' certain meals. I never had a problem eating Lucky Charms for supper, so maybe that's why I don't have a problem gnawing ion a chicken wing at breakfast? :)
Also, I LOVE eggs, so I do eat mostly boiled eggs for breakfast cos it's easy to prep a week's worth, then cart into work

I'm sorry to hear about your back pain ~ I hope your back gets better soon as pain is no way to have a quality life. Then too, I know how much you looked forward to the 5k events. Luckily, you have trips to Ireland to inspire you.

We didn't make it to the casino ... DH hurt his knee somehow the night before & that left him on crutches and using a knee wrap. Happily, that just lasted a few days. There's always next year I guess.

Marie

*EDIT = Cisco is recovering nicely from the surgery although he still needs to wear the "cone of shame" as he's healing. He gets the stitches out this Monday & I'm guessing a few days after that, he should be "right as rain".

I have to say, my experience has shown most doctors just push along what they were SOLD. I hate to say that. It's not that they're evil, they just do not KNOW.

And I mean it! They spend almost no time on nutrition. Then, even nutritionists are pushed what the industry is selling. You have to talk to biochemists and find the few doctors who are willing to learn more to help their sickest patients.

I've been looking at my metabolic panels (different from cholesterol) and I'm amazed at how HEALTHY I am. Seriously! My levels are all within normal, though sometimes a known issue shows expectedly low but that's because it's something I work on. I'm so thankful for that poor doctor who helped me (and went on to pass from cancer).

I have to wonder if she wasn't scouring the journals for ANYTHING to help HERSELF? I believe her NEED is what helped me.

Dairy is hugely a no-no, as it's inflammatory and a major 'bulker.' It's such a bulker, that people who don't want to use artificial (steroids or creatine supplements, etc) bulking stuff when they lift weights, use MILK!!!

Also, it's mean as heck to your adrenals and other hormones.

That said, I sneak a bit of dairy now and then. Even if I do, it's like an ounce of cheese, then my face explodes (or I get ice cream but after than cross-contamination a couple months ago, I MAY have learnt my lesson).

Here's what I'll say: stop eating dairy, legumes and grains. Add coconut oil for cooking (it's SO good for you and YES it's saturated fat!!!). If you're not eating the dairy, legumes and grains, you'll probably be fine without doing anything else because it's dropping your inflammation to nil. Pretty much. Ya know, non-medically trained as I am.

As others have been sharing, I think this is possibly MORE to do with cultural stuff. I think it's funny so many of us come up not-so-white ;p
