Use your mistakes as learning tools

I have found a way to do it!
I never thought I could loose weight. I felt like it was too big of a job. Too much weight to loose. Too much sacrafice. Too much work. But, I'm doing it! And I'm learning how to view myself better. How to actually take care of myself! :-) It's wonderful!!! I would encourage anyone that they CAN do it!

When I reached 100 pounds lost it was such a huge milestone... I think I got a little overwhelmed to be honest. Although I haven't gained back all of my weight or stopped losing weight, in 2009 I lost another 40 pounds, and then in 2010 I gained 30. I think I was a little freaked out by everything. By the summer of 2010 I realized that I didn't want to gain any more. I was back up to 270, only a little less than -100 pounds, my BIG milestone. I refused to go above it.

So I've been actively working on maintaining it. I've been bouncing between the same 8 pounds or so, but I can do so much better at staying consistent.

If you're starting to reach a plateau start looking for those things. I think that one of the reasons you haven't lost more weight is exercise (based on what you wrote on my page). Sometimes I wonder why I don't exercise MORE... I mean, it's like a magic miracle drug, just by moving my body I have better circulation, feel more energized, sleep better, get stronger, have fewer headaches.. ALL OF IT! And it's a great stress reducer. I just started the process of divorcing my husband, and I still don't have a job, so I definitely need some stress reduction.

The BIG BIG thing FOR ME that I don't do as much as I did the year I lost 100 pounds is add more activity during the day. I used to create reasons to move around. There are a couple of good SparkArticles about that here. But, extra trips to the bathroom, doing things the "hard way" (i.e. more physical instead of using automatic washers, etc.), and parking farther away really DID add up to more metabolic activity that burned calories and helped keep the weight down.

My other tip is to change up HOW you're getting those 1600 calories rather than going down to 1400.. You can easily burn an extra 200 cals a day with an intense but short walk, or a morning exercise boost, if you really want to. However, I also noticed that the weight practically falls off of me when I cut back on fast food, when I try to fill my fat ranges with "healthy fats", and stay balanced.

So, those are my tips!! Just 5 more pounds, girlie!! Give yourself some time, at least until Valentine's Day! Maybe you'll have some extra love for yourself on Valentine's! LOL!! And when you DO hit that 100 pounds lost mark ('cause I know you will), be sure to let me know! I want to celebrate with you.

HUGS!!!
