Too bad you're too far away to do the ride with me! Hope the rain isn't keeping you off the bike too much.

I just saw a pic of a Townie in Bicycling magazine. It was an ad for the Townie 3 700C. It looks like a sweet ride. We'll pretend that the very skinny girl in the ad is you! I'll pretend I'm one of the women on the road bikes.

Wow, the editors and advertisers have good taste in models! emoticon

I have a bike I call "Rusty but Trusty." LOL It's 15 years old, I bought it at Target or somewhere like it for $80. It clanks and squeaks and is heavier than you could imagine. The tires are the same ones I started with, haven't changed a tube in years and I don't bother with good chain oil, WD40 is good enough for this hunk of metal. I have a rack with panniers and a handlebar bag. I think the only maintenance I've done in recent years is replace the brake cable. Recently, one of my bottle cages broke and I'm still making do with that. It is a sight! LOL

I regularly get heckled by my ex-bro-in-law (we ride together often and stayed friends even after my divorce) because he can't believe that it even rides. He told me yesterday I'd be dangerous if I ever got a road bike. That's what I want and hopefully, if I ever get a job, I'll have one by next year. I'm going to train for a century ride regardless. If I have to ride "Rusty", I will. LOL

Hi there!

Sounds like a great plan to be buddies! I just set a goal of riding a century next year. Too late to start training this year - sigh. I'm planning on riding a 30 miler in October, though. One of four loops available and the ride I want to try next year when I do my century.

My ticker doesn't include the weight I lost before I joined Spark, but I'm down 15, too. I guess I could have put my actual start weight down and then put in a new weigh-in, but it seemed like cheating.

I'll add you to my buddy list!

My new bike was my lifeline to joy and peace! I cannot even tell you h ow much I love it and I am mad at that lady for hitting it! LOLOL
