Vickie: After my last note, I looked around a little more, and I thought it might be a good idea to find a bike shop where they could make sure your bike fits you, and they can help you take care of it. I don't know what I would do without my trusty bicycle mechanics, because things do happen.
I found a place in Wichita called The Bicycle Exchange. They have at least two locations.
See below for the note they sent me, in response to mine.
"We do have new and used bicycle locations. This, our, new location (908 W. Douglas) has nice new bicycles starting out at $250 and up. With our other location (1516 E. Central) selling re-condition bicycles ranging out from $49 and up. I hope this helps and feel free to have your friend stop in for a look! Thanks again! Happy Cycling."
Why don't you go take a look, see what they've got, and see if they are the kind of people who will still be around to help you after the sale. A good used bike for $49 would be a great deal, but without seeing it, it's hard to know what the condition is, and whether it would be right for you.

Vickie: I'd like to help you get a bike. Why don't you look at what's available on Craigslist in your area, and let me know if there is one you like. It seems a real shame that you don't have one, and it would do you good. Janet
P.S. You might also look at Walmart. Do you have one near you? Here is a bike that might be just the thing for you: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do? product_id=16775664&findingMethod=rr You probably need a medium frame (17"-18" seat tube) 2005 days ago
