It is a New Year and IT WILL be better

Hi,
I have been working on losing weight since June 2007. I was 293.5 when I started and now I am 238.5 (day I started SP). That is 55 pounds. I am looking for support and ideas to continue losing weight. I have a major heart condition that limits my ability to exercise to a certain extent. I need to get down to 200 pounds to be evaluated for a HEART TRANSPLANT if it is needed because the disease that I have sometimes ends with needing a transplant. If that gives you any idea of what I ...

My Goals:
1. lose about 5-10 pounds a month
2. See my son grow up and teach him to not make the same weight related mistakes that I have.
3. Be able to run around with my son as much as my heart will allow. I love football, basketball, and baseball and wish I could teach them to him.

My Program:
1.) I go to Bally's Total Fitness 3-5 days a week and do 30-60 minutes of cardio and 30-45 minutes of strength training.
2.) On days that I can not go to the gym try to get 30 minutes on my treadmill at home.

Personal Information:
My name is Nicole A.K.A. Nikki and I live in Philadelphia, PA. I am 34 years old. I was adopted in 1979 which has complicated some things in my life. I was diagnosed with HOCM (Hypertropic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy) in February 2005. Since then I had an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrulator) and a extended septal myectomy (open heart surgery) to save my life. I have been married to the most wonderful man for 9 years, we have been together for 15 years. We have a 9 year old son who may have inherited my disease because it is genetic.
For more information on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy you can visit www.4hcm.org .

Other Information:
God and family is very important to me that is why I am thankful that my family is working with me to lose this weight. I love movies, especially sci-fi and comedy. I also love music, it is what has gotten me through some of my roughest days.

Candi, bless you for maintaining such goals in spite of your limitations. My husband also has the HCM diagnosis, and he's very winded (although not overweight) with any amount of exercise, especially within two hours of having eaten. I want him to have the septal ablation so we might return to a more active lifestyle. He's been to Mayo, and they already told him he's an excellent candidate for the surgery, but he's still concerned about the process. Any words of wisdom/encouragement for him to move ahead with the surgery?

Thanks so much. GMAFLO
