Shared Fitness Tracker
In college, I became one of the guys – almost. I ate and drank like them. However, I didn’t make time for the gym like them, nor did I have their metabolism. The end result was that my 155-pound high school self was replaced with a 220-pound stranger on graduation day (May 2004). In the months after graduation, stuck in an awful job, I packed on an additional 15 pounds.
In December of 2004, I had a turning point. Upon being stood up for a date, some guy yelled “hey big sexy” to me on the street. That was it. The next day, I logged (back) into Sparkpeople and began my journey.
Over the last 10 years, I slowly lost weight. I made a commitment to physical activity. I started with low-impact cardio before transitioning to running, and then CrossFit in 2011. (Along the way, I also completed the Breast Cancer 3-Day.)
I also changed my eating habits. Now, I follow a mostly Paleo diet. My emphasis is on eating whole foods.
My proudest accomplishment is that I did not undo all of my hard work during grad school. My weight did fluctuate, but nothing like what happened as an undergrad.
In the summer of 2014, in preparation for my fall wedding, I hit my lowest weight as an adult – 159 pounds.
Unfortunately, due to a myriad of things, I have gained 25 pounds back. This is the most I have ever gained back during my journey. Suffice to say, it has freaked me out and I am now completely focused on getting back on track during the summer of 2015.
My husband and I hope to start a family within the next year, but I refuse to get pregnant at my current weight. So, you’ll see a lot more of me as I recommit to reaching my long-term health and fitness goals.
I'm going back to the basics -- eating well and exercising. It cracks me up when I think of all the insane things I've done to lose weight in the past, including hypnosis. What was I thinking? I was probably thinking, like many Americans do, that there was a simple solution to my weight loss problem. Well, that just 'ain't so -- losing weight and taking care of yourself takes work.
So, my plan is to follow SP's guidelines. I attempt to stay within my calorie range each day. And, I work out 7 hours a week. My workouts are a combination of cardio and strength training.
I started Crossfit last summer and love it. So, I mostly stick to those workouts, but add a bit of extra cardio in during the week, too.
I live in the Washington, DC Metro Area and am in healthcare marketing.
I became a Crossfitter in 2011.

Cannot wait to see you reach your mini-goal before your birthday! Keep me posted and if you need any additional incentive, maybe we can come up with a mutual challenge (i.e. 52 Day Challenge). Sometimes a little structure, accountability or a challenge, can keep us on track.
