There is disagreement among body-builders as far as diet, I think. So I guess we all have to tweak our diet to make it work for us. Agree that you have to eat some more when you are trying to build muscle. I just find that if I don't have some carbs (I count bananas and potatoes and maybe some whole grain here and there), then I start feeling crabby and depressed.
As far as weight, I have always done the low-weight, high rep way. For me it was mostly 3 lbs. . with 15 reps, 3 sets (except for things over my head and then it was 5 reps, 3 sets). I recently upped the poundage to 5 lb. weights. Man, did that make a difference. If you want to add a little weight to your 5 lbs. you could put weighted gloves on when using your weights. That would add 1-2 ibs, That will be my next tactic if I ever get past 5 lbs. 1576 days ago
