When I run, I soar

Mine is a pretty typical story...yo yo dieter....finally found the Spark in 2008, and over time went from donut eating doubles tennis player to marathon runner and learned how to eat better and smarter....

Then post-marathon, injuries mounted up, and I started eating like a madman...for over a year. Gained back just about every pound I lost. Sound familiar? Started detesting running because it wasn't comfortable or natural anymore. Sigh...big SIGH actually.

But I ...

Then post-marathon, injuries mounted up, and I started eating like a madman...for over a year. Gained back just about every pound I lost. Sound familiar? Started detesting running because it wasn't comfortable or natural anymore. Sigh...big SIGH actually.

But I didn't give up....while my eating was and is not where it needs to be, I kept on running and going to the gym...

And while my eating habits still aren't great, my running habits are and my weight is gradually coming off...I run at a minimum 30 miles each week....

Running liberates me from the mess that life throws at me and from the mess I add to my life....running helps me grow as a person...running helps me build community with my fellow runners...

Truly, when I run, I soar...and I am someone who didn't like to run for the sake of running. Why would anyone do that to themselves? Pound their bodies that way? Why? Because it shapes us, molds us and helps define us!

Why do we run? Because we are runners and it is what we do.

And surely, if I can do it, why not you? WHY NOT? YOU CAN! You really really can!

Hi, I was telling Dawn and Bill that I had a friend from their church on Spark people and they were trying to figure out who you were from my descriptions. I was up there for Good Friday and Easter. They think they know but if you would confirm sometime and say hi from Faith/Sis. Were you in the Good Fri program? One of the readers?

Dude! It's been a while! I've unfortunately fallen off my running routine but am ready to get back into the swing of things. Can you believe I ran at 7.0 on the treadmill last night and didn't fly off the back of it? Amazing! LOL! Hope all is well!

Hope things are smooth in your neck of the woods. I hope your daughter has healed nicely and is back to normal teenage life.
