When I run, I soar

Mine is a pretty typical story...yo yo dieter....finally found the Spark in 2008, and over time went from donut eating doubles tennis player to marathon runner and learned how to eat better and smarter....

Then post-marathon, injuries mounted up, and I started eating like a madman...for over a year. Gained back just about every pound I lost. Sound familiar? Started detesting running because it wasn't comfortable or natural anymore. Sigh...big SIGH actually.

But I ...

Then post-marathon, injuries mounted up, and I started eating like a madman...for over a year. Gained back just about every pound I lost. Sound familiar? Started detesting running because it wasn't comfortable or natural anymore. Sigh...big SIGH actually.

But I didn't give up....while my eating was and is not where it needs to be, I kept on running and going to the gym...

And while my eating habits still aren't great, my running habits are and my weight is gradually coming off...I run at a minimum 30 miles each week....

Running liberates me from the mess that life throws at me and from the mess I add to my life....running helps me grow as a person...running helps me build community with my fellow runners...

Truly, when I run, I soar...and I am someone who didn't like to run for the sake of running. Why would anyone do that to themselves? Pound their bodies that way? Why? Because it shapes us, molds us and helps define us!

Why do we run? Because we are runners and it is what we do.

And surely, if I can do it, why not you? WHY NOT? YOU CAN! You really really can!

Well, I can honestly say that I feel your pain. Long weeks for me as well! I just finished up filling out everything the school needs me to do as far as the position. Now I wait. I've got three instructors backing me up! I was voted in as the student representative and I've been invited to the Advisory Board dinner so...I really hope they have good food.

Blah, you tell me??? Well, my blah is more blah than yours! So, BLAHHHHHH! But we can be blah together. I will treat as long as you treat next time. Deal? And don't worry. Your sparkle will come back soon. Promise!

Life is good! I've possibly got a job at the college I'm going to before I even finish my program. :) My instructor told me yesterday that they were going to vote on it the second week of October at the board meeting, then I will have an interview with the superintendent, who was incidentally my science teacher in high school, lol. So, keep your fingers crossed! I will have that place so confused it won't be funny!

What has Cali been up to? Hey, is it cooling down out your way? It's been cold here in the mornings but hot during the day! But we know what that means...it's almost Trick-or-Treat time!!

I am not a runner. I struggle to exercise, but I do it especially in the summer. My middle son is the runner who loves trail runs, marathons, mini marathons, you name it. From him even if I don't run, I've learned to appreciate the active life. So, enjoy running; I'll cheer you on!

But you're right--I do like CS Lewis!! And I like continuing to recover from the stroke I had six years ago just after turning 58. That's why I just got a gym membership--to see where it takes me! Have a great day, friend.

Heck, we got our butts handed to us! Ugly game on the Steelers side. There's always this weekend, John. But I'm not going to hold my breath! Hope your week is awesome too!
