D-U-N DONE!
Update April 2010 Back here on Spark, and ready to put some focus on me, a healthy lifestyle and getting fit. I have a 5k to run at the end of May. I need focus, determination, and most of all support from fellow SPers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ My goal is to motivate my family to live a healthy lifestyle, while losing weight and getting fit all before my 40th birthday in January, 2009. I want my outside to match my inside. I feel confident, vibrant and alive. I want all the joy I have for life to be readily visible to anyone who looks at me. I am letting go of the past. I am DONE . . . done with old habits, done with old fears, done with old labels and I'm embracing new challenges, new dreams and this new journey to the me that has always been here--right inside--ready to live, ready to love, ready to laugh with family, friends and my children. This new me, she's just getting started. And as far as turning 40--well 40 is just the beginning. The best is still to come. I have a family history of heart disease and this is something I want to do my best to stop, reverse and prevent for me and the kids. I also want to set my beautiful children up with lifelong healthy habits so that they never have to feel like a ticking time bomb due to their genetics. We all enjoy technology, which is ok within limits. However, I want us to to be free of the constant lure of computer screens, video games, junk t.v. and 24/7 technology and to go out and live life. In other words, unplug! We live in one of the most gorgeous, geographically diverse places on earth and there are lots of adventures out there to be had! Let's get going. 11/9/08 *Time for an Update I accomplished my goal today. I ran my first ever 5K at the Redwood Empire Run for Hunger in Santa Rosa, CA. I finished about 2 mins under my goal time at 43 mins and I ran just about the whole way. Crossing the finish line was grueling but the pix on the left shows how I felt. Amazing. I have now proven to myself that I can try and succeed right NOW. No point waiting for tomorrow, or for when I hit a magic goal weight #! The goal is fitness and being able to run that race gave me a reality check about who I really am. I am the person who gets up each morning, ready to do her personal best. I am DONE with letting others--or the scale--judge me. I won't judge myself. I am in the process of accepting who I am right now, and with 40 less than 2 months away, that is more important to me than ever. Finish Strong. "Our lives are the sum total of the choices we have made." Wayne Dyer "We must become the change we want to see in the world." - Gandhi "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." Henry David Thoreau

Personal Information:
My name is Lisa. I'm an East Coast gal happily living on the West Coast with my hubby and 2 beautiful children. I'm a teacher, a writer, a photography enthusiast, a blogger, and I hope a healthy role model for my family. I like to tell stories with photos especially black and white photography. I love inspirational quotes and the principle of Karma. My #1 life lesson for my kids is the Golden Rule: Do to others as you want them to do to you Rule #2: Every so often, go ahead and do something unexpected. And what's the worst that can happen?? We always have band-aids in the car. Rule #3: It is ok to make mistakes. If you do something wrong, say you are sorry and move on. Rule #4: Sometimes you need to break a few rules! My current mantras are "Be Here Now," and "One Day at a Time," but I have many and they change when they need to.
Other Information:
Random info: My photos on my SP page upload blurry, but you can click on them and then they look normal. "Don't let the fear of striking out hold you back from trying." Babe Ruth A Quote I collected from a fellow Sparker: The art of being yourself at your best is the art of unfolding your personality into the person you want to be. . . . Be gentle with yourself, learn to love yourself, to forgive yourself, for only as we have the right attitude toward ourselves can we have the right attitude toward others. Wilfred Peterson
