Focusing on Me

My name is Christina and I'm 35 years old and a stay at home mom to twin 4 year old boys, who keep me very busy! Unfortunately it doesn't give me a lot of time to take care of myself and it has really shown in my weight gain. I really want to try to lose this weight that I gained since staying at home so I am able to run around with them and not get out of breath after 30 seconds!

Christina,

Okay Spark Friend, how are you! I am just junking out today...lol. The weather to day is rainy and yucky (typical Oregon), so I'm having a "comfort day." Hopefully we will see some sunshine (as predicted) for tomorrow since my husband and I are surfing.

How are your goals going? Any results yet? It's still early. I JUST lost a pound, but that was this morning...so who knows what I'm packing on right now. Send me some motivation to get a salad!

Hi Christina! Just checking in to see how you're doing. I hope you're feeling better today!
This is my second attempt at being a stay at home mom. The first time was 5 years ago, and I failed miserably! I was tired all the time, depressed, I started to feel like I wasn't ever going to get out of that slump, so I went back to work. I was not at a place where I could stay home and feel good about myself. It's hard hard hard work! :) And completely thankless most of the time, right? But this time around, I started with a whole different attitude. You HAVE to make time for yourself, even if it's 15 minutes a day, or an hour every three days, it's important! Not only do you feel better, but you are doing it to be a BETTER mom! This is how I finally was able to understand it... I love my kids more than anything in this world. If someone were to tell me that they were going to take my kids to a place where they would have to cook, clean, give never ending care and understanding to everyone around them, answer the phone, make appointments, provide transportation, do the laundry, the book keeping and everything else that we do in a day without ever taking a break for themselves away from all of that... well I would be outraged! And yet, that is what we teach them. That it's ok to put everyone else first, and always put themselves last. We don't want that for our kids. I know I don't. And being healthy and active makes for a cool mom, and trust me, your boys are little still, once they get older, you definitely want to be the cool mom! :) Sorry, didn't mean to make this this long, I just hope you're doin' ok! emoticon

Thanks, but yes, I need support! I am SO stuck at 151lbs, and was just told by my RD to eat more- huh??? LOL, we will see what happens...there is still time before I have to put on the ol' bikini again, since I live in Oregon. Your twins are probably like my one husband...LOL. Typical boys... emoticon

I'm on here really quick because I have to go play pirates, but I wanted to thank you for the support! I will be writing back individually once I can get back on here! Thanks!

Hi Christina! I replied to your post on the Panic Button page, but I wanted to let you know that I really am available a lot of the time on here, and would love to help as much as I can. I am also a stay at home mom, so I understand about not being able to get out and about much. I stay accountable to myself and everyone else by posting a blog every day (and sometimes twice a day) that everyone is able to read, and I've found that this helps me, and I get a lot of positive feedback from other members. Feel free to read some of my blogs and let me know if you want to chat! emoticon
