Blues to the Bone

My name is Kathy and I live in Walnut Creek, CA.

My 2012 goal - get to my goal weight, then maintain it. I began green smoothies the end of December, 2011. I started to go 50% raw a few weeks later. I just switched to 70% raw (2.4.12) but maintain around 80% usually.

The story is long, and history now. What matters is today and the choices I am making today. I want to live a long time. I fell in love the month before I turned 50 and this has made my life full and rich.

In 2011 my life went through too many losses to list here. It has been a difficult struggle to finally have this amazing love & relationship in my life and I'm struggling to hold myself up. February, April, then a move and additional stress.

up, down, down up... (damn I'm singing the blues...)

What I know - they are my blues and I own them, the blues do not own me.

I do know what switching to the smoothies and raw diet leaves me energized, and my mood is improving. I thought I felt "pretty good" in December but this is amazing. I am more and more convinced that food heals - the right foods.

I'm following a book - not sure if I can share the title so I will not. There are five of us at work doing the smoothies and following mostly raw diets, so it is nice for support & we can buy in bulk cheaper.

I'm looking forward to my daily journey here. I am confident I can learn how to do this - this year.

My Goals:
1. Lose 40 pounds
2. Do so by diet & exercise
3. Maintain the loss.

Unfortunately I have to do #1 and #2 to get to the huge goal - #3.

My Program:
I'm eating raw foods approximately 80% daily. I'm exercising at least five days per week.

I need to start working core - Pilates, etc. That is next goal for this week.

I am NOT weighing in February, 2012! The scale is a problem for me.

Reunion of all the bands 60s/70s from Richmond area that rehearsed in garages. :) Every year in January at Vinnies.

I didn't get to feel the earthquake. Too far out of Sac I guess. I grew up in the Bay Area so it is a familiar feeling. Thanks for coming by my blog. I have been looking for the unprocessed agave, raw. Maybe WF has it. But, most of the time, no sweetener except fruit. My Dr. likes Stevia but I'm not that fond of it. Always on the look out. Thanks for your input. Will eye my agave differently. emoticon
