In 2014, doctors found that I was diabetic and I just had surgery for a frozen shoulder.

The findings of the diabetes delayed surgery for a while.

Now, I've gotten through the surgery just fine, only my body has these shoulder and chest muscles that are so weak because I had not used them for a year.

What an adventure. Now the shoulder wants to work, but one side just isn't ready to do as much work as the other one.....retraining is in store. Oh well. ...

I've been cleared for swimming and I have to admit that I look a bit lopsided in the water because my arms are not in sync.

LOL. and my sense of humor fluxuates. Like one moment, I think...things will never change, and at other moments I'm surprised by the movements that I regain.

Thanks for the comment :D That's what I'm thinking! I can go grocery shopping, then order a decaf mocha as a reward for sticking to my list and not getting junk food. Sounds like a plan!

I saw a post of yours on the Fit & Organized team, including the history of your weight loss. I tend to be more inspired by those who have lost over a period of time because it looks like they are finding ways they can live with. (I've been on Spark for years and have seen many power through to "goal" in less than a year, convinced it's forever, only to gain it back because they find it just isn't sustainable. I'd rather maintain than be haunted by a short-term thinner me!) I've been on Spark since 2007 but didn't really commit to my present plan until Dec. 26, 2009. A bit similar history to yours.

I don't know your whole story, and you may have commented on this, but it must have been a bit of a disappointment to have lost so much weight over the years but still be diagnosed with diabetes. I guess that genetic element is pretty strong. I've changed my habits a lot over the years and am not really aiming at getting much tougher on food; I only hope I would summon the determination if I had to face a real health challenge that required even more. Of course, having good health right on the line can be an excellent motivator!

Happy New Year!
