Busy Granny of 5

I've now been a member of Sparkpeople for 28 months and continue to be inspired by all the wonderful people, information and activities on this wonderful site! My journey to be the healthiest me I can be, continues... I've now lost over 110 pounds and am within ten pounds of my goal weight. (Which will put me at the high end of normal on the BMI scale!) Of course, I've battled with this last ten pounds, but... I will NOT give up... I feel so much better physically, mentally, and emotionally ...

My Goals:
This goal too, has evolved over the past twenty-eight months, as my 51st birthday has come and gone and I did NOT meet my ultimate goal of being normal on the BMI scale; however I will NOT give up.. as this is NOT a race to a finish line, but an ongoing RACE to be the best I can be!!!! I will get where I need/want to be as long as I stay in the race!
Refuse to give up!!!

My Program:
In order for me to meet my BIG goals, I have established some smaller, bite sized goals .
1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day,
2. Track everything I eat and drink EACH and every day.
3. Do at least 30 minutes of cardio five days a week. (Preferrably 60 minutes)
4. Do upper body, lower body and core building exercises on a rotating basis five days a week.
5. Remember a set back doesn't mean failure, it's just another opportunity to start fresh.

Personal Information:
I'm 51 years old and have been married to the same man since I was 18, which means we'll be celebrating our 33rd anniversary this year. We have three grown children and five grandchildren, ranging in ages from six to fifteen months. To say that they are my everything would be an understatement... I have many loves in my life but these five angels definitely top the list.

Other Information:
I've had the privilege of being a teacher for the past twenty-five years and continue to LOVE teaching today, almost as much as I did when I first started so many years ago.

Have A Wonderful Weekend.!!!

My message to help motivate you & ( Especialy ) Me this week is

“You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”

I didn't know Leslie was an author either until I found these 2 books at the thrift store. Still can't believe anyone would want to give them up.

Googled.... The domesticated banana can only be propagated by man!

Trivia Proofing

#379: “The banana cannot reproduce itself. It can be propagated only by the hand of man. Further, the banana is not a tree, it is a herb, the largest known of all plants without a woody stem or solid trunk.”

Inaccurate.

The domesticated banana can now only continue with human help. Since the domesticated banana plant now works by asexual reproduction, people have to help it produce more seeds. Wild bananas originally had larger seeds, but since people produced it to have smaller seeds so it would be better for consumption, it now has smaller seeds. Those smaller seeds make it harder for the banana plant to reproduce itself.

A Quote from -- Erma Bombeck

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.

Patriotism is great but WATCH THOES CALORIES !! emoticon
