Back in 2006 I started a Spark-journey that had a fabulous ending. I lost 114 lbs, felt healthy and good about my life (because it affected everything, not just the scale or my pants size!) and even decided to gain a little bit of it back on purpose to be healthier. I maintained my new weight for over 3 years and then, little by little, I started paying less attention to my goals. FORTUNATELY, a LOT of the habits and lifestyle changes I had made with Spark stuck with me!

Unlike with past weight loss journeys, I haven't "gained it all back and then some." I have gained back more than I would like and more than I intend to let stay with me, but I haven't gained back even half of the weight I lost. And I have managed to stop the weight gain and hold steady at my current weight for over a year now.

Things I'm still doing that I will continue to do:

1. Drink water all day every day; currently getting at least 6 8 oz. glasses but working on 8-10 8 oz. glasses

2. Exercise regularly; currently walking 1-2 miles 2-3 times per week minimum; am going to add stairs back into my routine shortly

Things I am going to focus on right now:

1. Not eating sugar; I know what I mean when I say this and that's all the definition I require

2. Getting at least 7 hours of sleep every night

3. Visiting SparkPeople at least 3 times every week for motivation and focus

I am 49 and 5'8" (I shrank, btw -- I used to be 5'9"). I live in Denver, Colorado with my husband, my 18-year old daughter and our pooch. My 13-year old son lives with his dad in Salt Lake City, Utah, but will be moving here this summer to live with us and staying through high school.
