Aug 2/09 About 165 here or so. Gained some weight before my wedding as I was stress eating way too much. I was pretty cinched in to my dress.

I have had some major life changes in the last year. Although my life has definitely changed for the better, stress eating got the better of me. As a result I have an added 20 lbs I would like to get rid of. Not only do I want to lose fat, but I want to be strong and show that you can be vegan and buff. :)

I try to focus on whole foods that are low fat and high fiber. I eat a lot of tofu and legumes and I am always trying to aim for lots of fresh fruits and veggies.

I'm a wannabe runner. I was training for my first marathon in 2010 but unfortunately an IT band issue caused me to drop out. I am just starting to pick it back up again. I don't know if a marathon is in the cards for me for 2011 - my budget is tight and race entry fees can get expensive. But we will just wait and see what happens.

I have a bit of a history with binge eating and I am slowly but surely facing those demons and trying to take control over emotional eating.


My weight goals are as follows:
Jan 31/11: 170 lbs (achieved 1/28/11)
Feb 28/11: 165 lbs
Mar. 31/11: 160 lbs
Apr. 30/11: 155 lbs
May 31/11: 150 lbs

Of course I'm trying to not get too hung up on scale weight. I don't really care what the number on the scale says as long as I look good!

-Run 1/2 marathon
-Run sub 25:00 5k
-Learn to rock climb
-Half century bike ride

-25 'real' push-ups (no knees!)

-Fit into my old size 6 clothes

My Program:
Strength training 3x/week (following the Stronglifts program)

Cardio at least 3x/week

Eating a healthy vegan diet (high-fiber, lower fat, high protein)

Personal Information:
Vegan for 3 years, vegetarian for 10 years prior to that.

Love to cook and bake (which is what gets me in trouble with my diet!)

Thanks for commenting on my recent blog post!

If you can borrow "Vegan on the Cheap" before purchasing it, I definitely would. It's my new favourite. It was my first vegan cookbook and I use it more than the other 2 new ones I have.

You've got to try her Comfort Loaf recipe, especially with some vegan gravy...though that could be troublesome since it tends to be something you want to pig out on!
