My Goal is Progress...NOT Perfection

Hi Everyone, Welcome to my Spark Page. My SparkName is one that everytime I see reminds me not to lose or doubt myself. It's so easy to do that these days and I want to stay True to ME! I've worked too hard not to :-)

I lost 105lbs using the Jenny Craig program about two years ago. I know many people have mixed feelings about the costs and packaged foods...but for ME it was AWESOME. It was the first step I ever took to try to be a healthier me. At 24, I weighted 272lbs. Any step ...

Any step was better than no step. Jenny Craig helped because of the 1 on 1 attention from my consultant, and it showed me that I could eat fun foods, if just prepared with healthier ingredients. This was step 1.

After starting to prepare some of my own foods, and working out faithfully for 2 years I hurt my back at the gym...herniated 2 discs, and it took me a whole painful year of PT, chiropractor and steriod injections to really feel any relief. During this time I pitied myself and was so angry that i stopped being as careful w/ my eating decisions....and i couldn't work out to undo any of it! I managed to put back on 30lbs that year.

Finally, this year I've felt more relief in my back...and am so greatful! I just started working out with my Personal Trainer again, Completed my first 5K in two years and will be playing volleyball this winter!

I took the time this year to try to remind myself and relearn all the healthy foods options I once had worked so hard to understand. The payoff? I'm now 44lbs lighter.

In total I've lost 116lbs. I've been maintaining this loss for 1 month so far. I believe Spark People will be a great tool in ensuring I can maintain for a lifetime.

My goal is to learn how to cook a variety of meals as healthy has they can be...make sure I plan out my meals in advance and have all ingredients on hand, and overcome turning to food as a solution.

I love to challenge myself working out...I feel like I can do anything after a good workout. My workout goals are to continue to work out with my trainer 2x a week, and either walk, jog, hike, or do elliptical at least 1 or 2 times a week.

I'm always here to talk and listen and try my best to pay forward everything I've learned.

Always remember....above all BE TRUE TO YOU!

Hi and Happy Friday!
I'm doing better now that it's the end of the week, but I haven't been very "on track" with my program. Didn't track my food the last two days very well, and I've been snacking a little too much...not really binging, but some snacks I didn't need to have. I want to stay on track this weekend, so I'm going to make a food plan I think. I like your idea of challenging yourself to stay on track for 28 days--that's great!

I haven't had anymore "aha" moments, but I am continuing to think about what I need to change in the way of habits and behaviors. Nothing earth shaking....I know what I need to do. I just need to do it!!

Have a great Halloween weekend! Looks like you're traveling? Be safe!

Hey Lady, thanks for the postings. Things are going well. I can't complain...well for now. lol I have been staying on the right track to healthy greatness. My goal is really centered around being the Queen Bee at my bday weekend celebration in two weeks. I will be turning the big 30 so I want to make sure all eyes are on me that night. I bought a really pretty dress and order some sexy boots to really set things off so I am staying focus. My goal right now is to lose another 5lbs in two weeks which should definitely be doable. I also love the way I feel right now. I was able to get in a pair of jeans that last year this time I could even get over my rear end. lol However, you have definitely been a great motivation to me and thanks so much for listening.

Oh boy, hope your interview went well!

Thanks so much for your encouraging words yesterday! I really appreciate the words of wisdom. I do need to figure out a way to get out of focusing on what I did wrong, and also for comforting myself with food. It is a hard habit to break. I will try to do what you suggested and distract myself when I feel that way and see what happens.

Thank you!!!
Carrie

HI,
Thank you so much for your comment on my blog! I really appreciate your wisdom. I think for the most part, I have tried not to deprive myself too much, but when a binge comes on....it's usually either because of emotional problems or a craving. I actually think I just let myself go crazy last weekend just because I could! It was like I was doing it in defiance or something! Crazy. But, I'm really trying to be back on track today. So far so good.

Thanks again for your encouragement. You look fabulous!!!
~Carrie
