My Goal is Progress...NOT Perfection
Hi Everyone, Welcome to my Spark Page. My SparkName is one that everytime I see reminds me not to lose or doubt myself. It's so easy to do that these days and I want to stay True to ME! I've worked too hard not to :-) I lost 105lbs using the Jenny Craig program about two years ago. I know many people have mixed feelings about the costs and packaged foods...but for ME it was AWESOME. It was the first step I ever took to try to be a healthier me. At 24, I weighted 272lbs. Any step was better than no step. Jenny Craig helped because of the 1 on 1 attention from my consultant, and it showed me that I could eat fun foods, if just prepared with healthier ingredients. This was step 1. After starting to prepare some of my own foods, and working out faithfully for 2 years I hurt my back at the gym...herniated 2 discs, and it took me a whole painful year of PT, chiropractor and steriod injections to really feel any relief. During this time I pitied myself and was so angry that i stopped being as careful w/ my eating decisions....and i couldn't work out to undo any of it! I managed to put back on 30lbs that year. Finally, this year I've felt more relief in my back...and am so greatful! I just started working out with my Personal Trainer again, Completed my first 5K in two years and will be playing volleyball this winter! I took the time this year to try to remind myself and relearn all the healthy foods options I once had worked so hard to understand. The payoff? I'm now 44lbs lighter. In total I've lost 116lbs. I've been maintaining this loss for 1 month so far. I believe Spark People will be a great tool in ensuring I can maintain for a lifetime. My goal is to learn how to cook a variety of meals as healthy has they can be...make sure I plan out my meals in advance and have all ingredients on hand, and overcome turning to food as a solution. I love to challenge myself working out...I feel like I can do anything after a good workout. My workout goals are to continue to work out with my trainer 2x a week, and either walk, jog, hike, or do elliptical at least 1 or 2 times a week. I'm always here to talk and listen and try my best to pay forward everything I've learned. Always remember....above all BE TRUE TO YOU!
