Meeting My Expectations

I've retired! Now I don't have an excuse for not exercising, or finding time for me. The world is my oyster, and I need to make the best of it!
I need to lose 80-100 pounds. I chose this photo because it was realistic. I'm not happy with it. It will be my "before" photo as I progress.

My Goals:
Long term: Lose 100 lbs for health and longevity.
Mid-term: I lost 26 lbs by 12/31/14. I plan to reach 200 (or less) by the end of August.
I completed two 5K walks this spring. I will quick-step a 5K run Aug 1st.
After 3/29/16: Spend 3 months in France immersed in the culture.

My Program:
Weekly exercise includes 3-5 aerobic, low-impact Jazzercise sessions (55 min) every week, and 2 body sculpting sessions (45 minutes, also Jazzercise).
I am also using the Spark Activity Tracker, and walk/jog to meet my daily step goal. (Dang, that tool gets me up and out!)
I am logging every bite and calorie in, and every calorie burned through exercise. It keeps me "legal", and in control of my progress.

Personal Information:
I grew up in Massachusetts, and immigrated to California in 1981. I started my life over. My husband of 31 years and I travel when we can.
I have retired from singing, but the traveling continues!

Other Information:
We have a demanding calico cat named Penny and two grand-nephews, and a grand-niece.

Thanks for my (virtual) new shoes!

I haven't worn a dress for more years than I know, so I am always in something with a waistband, which is where my tracker rides from the time my feet hit the floor in the morning until I swing them back onto the bed at night (except in the shower, of course emoticon )

Whether it is slacks, jeans, shorts or jammies, my tracker sits above my right hip. If the pants have a "change pocket", then it rides there which is exactly on my hip bone. It works well for me.

Thanks for your Spark friendship! emoticon

A couple of pairs of shoes but not actually counting. I usually wear out the shoes by poking a hole in the top with my big toe before I wear out the tread.

The miles are counted by my Spark activity tracker which also counts all the steps I take walking around the house or even marching in place (like now), both of which I do barefoot.

No special equipment required for marching. Everything is at it's normal height and the keyboard slide, just under the desktop, is pretty much at fingertip level if I just let my arms hang...I'm only 5'1" or so these days! And since I am standing about three feet back from the monitor, it seems to work fine without tipping my head too much.

My typing isn't as great as when I'm sitting still so there's lots of backspacing and correcting! emoticon

However, that just means it takes longer to do everything, so.......MORE STEPS!!

I live over by Baxter State Park, that is Mt Katahdin in my background. Lubec is a pretty place, I have been there several times, my Dad used to be town manager in Eastport, sometimes I would fly out to see him for lunch, when landing in Eastport you fly over lubec sometimes but it is hard to get there by land lol
