Starting to see some definition in my arms thanks to Bodypump!
Mid-Snatch (Dec 2011)
Almost at the finish line of my first 10K (July 2011, 157lbs)
Hi, I'm Laura, a 25 year old working to lose 20 pounds. SparkPeople helped me get from 204 lbs to 165 lbs a few years ago and now I'm back hoping to finally reach my ultimate goal (145).
Growing up, I was always a little overweight, maybe about 10 lbs. I played basketball in junior high and high school, but quit my junior year which led to gaining a little weight. Then it was off to college and a full time meal plan at the dining hall. After sophomore year I was shocked to see I weighed 204 lbs. I had known I was gaining weight, but always thought "At least I'm under 200". Once I passed that line, I woke up and realized something needed to be done.
I started working out and watching what I ate sticking to 1200 calories. I got to 192 and then got stuck. I ended up meeting with a nutritionist who told me about SparkPeople. She also opened my eyes to the fact that calories aren't the only thing that matter. I was eating mostly processed crap and also not enough to fuel my new long workouts. I started tracking everything on SP and eating a little more and the weight started falling off again. That summer, I got down to 165 lbs.
Once I went back to school, I had trouble keeping up my momentum. I didn't gain, but the losing slowed down a lot. I moved to Australia for a semester and gained 7lbs back. Since then, I've gone back and forth a little, always staying between 170 and 175.
I got married in August 2010 (at about 168) and after a pretty indulgent honeymoon, I was determined to finally get down to my goal weight of 150. I started the Couch 2 5K program in December 2010 and ran my first race on June 26th, 2011. About a month later, I did my first 10K. In August 2011, I started doing CrossFit and am absolutely loving it!
Although I've never been 100% vegetarian, I used to eat pretty close to that. However, after having great success doing a Paleo challenge with my Crossfit box, I've started eating more meat and ditching the grains, dairy, and sugar. It works really well for me...when I can keep my sweet tooth in check, that is ;)
SP has been a great motivator for me and I'm always looking for more friends to keep me going!

the mobility class at my gym is scheduled right before barbell, which is pretty much ideal for sticky lifters like me :D

Still loving CrossFit... getting stronger.. but have some issues with a "tight posterior chain" which causes some lower back back with below parallel loaded backsquats.. sooooo i'm back to box squatting and lots of stretching.. the good news is I finally improved my deadlift technique and am able to do them without low back pain! yeah me!... progressed to wall walks.. from ring rows to banded pullups.. able to "hang" with the gang on 30 minute long met-cons.. sloooowly but surely improving... and loving every minute of it! Still no oly lifts.. but perfecting my heaving snatch balance and I'm patient (I appreciate my coach's careful eye!)... on the weight front, I'm down 112lbs.. still have a ways to go .. having brachioplasty the 19th of this month and am nervous but excited to get er done.. mmmm that's about it! Thanks for asking!

Didn't you used to do races? And you don't want to do the 1000m? Sounds like someone's been totally CrossFitted
I can't tease though, I am not much of a runner myself. And by "not much" I mean "not at all".
