Well, here I am again, taking another stab at weight loss/healthy living. My weight's been a struggle for me since I was a teenager. I've done my share of diets...tried the low-cal, no-carb..low-carb, slimfast, dexatrim even Doctor prescribed diet pills. But the only thing that ever worked for me was about 10 years ago when I shifted all of my focus to working out about 3-5 days a week. It took a long time, well over a year and a half (a LONG seeming year and a half at that!) for me to lose the 70lbs that I had steadily been adding since the birth of my first daughter. But I did it! I finally got to 165...lower than I'd ever been..even in High School. It was an awesome feeling and a great accomplishment. Only problem was, I stopped going to the gym. Then I stopped watching what I was eating. Then I had another child. And though I'm not as heavy as I was that time not so long ago, I AM up 25 lbs from my lightest weight. And with age comes a whole new host of problems. But one thing I know, my body doesn't carry this new weight as nicely as it once did. So, here I am again. I'm in it for the long haul again. I know it won't come off overnight and I'm fine with that. Because it's not so much the struggle with my weight that's so hard to bear, it's NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT that's the problem. I'm done with making false promises to myself. I'm done with saying "I'll start tomorrow" and I'm done with expecting perfection from myself.
They say every day is a new beginning. Mine starts again now.
My goal this time is to lose the 20ish pounds I've gained in the 3 years since I lost my Mother. To firm up, slim down and be able to enjoy my clothes again..to be able to enjoy Life and actually LIKE what I see in the mirror.
My program is basically the same one I used about 10 years ago when I lost 60 pounds. To weight train at least twice a week (even if it's only the 10 mins videos on here) and to do cardio 3x a week, eventually building on both as my schedule allows. I'm a recent fan of Zumba (on Wii) and I'm loving that too!!
I'm a 44 year old mother of two daughters (one 5 and one 25) and in May I'll actually be a Grandmother for the first time! I like hiking in the summer, following a gym/workout routine and love the feeling I get right AFTER excerise..it's getting there that's sometimes the problem! So that's why I'm here. To be motivated again because that's the one thing that's sooo missing in my life right now.

So, before 8 am this morning, I worked out to my newly downloaded tunes with weights for 30 minutes, went to the grocery store because I wanted to get my waffles on for breakfast, (and I needed some shampoo) watched some videos on YOU TUBE, had 3 servings of water, a multi-vitamin and a serving of fruit, checked out all my Spark Soldiers wishing them a Sparkalicious Day, paid some bills on line, made 2 phone calls to my friends (they didn't answer, hmmm wonder why?) and now I'm going back to bed. Thank goodness I'm off on Fridays! I'm tired.
Oh, and I promised myself I'd ride my bike in the park today for at least 30 minutes. Hope your day is fabulous! (Maybe I should switch to decaf. Oh wait, I don't drink coffee.) Guess this "high" is all natural!

Congrats on the cutest little addition to your family! But a grandma? - that's just a technicality. We're gonna have to think of another title since you're way too hot! I'm gonna work on that and get back to you!
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you: Here's to a nutritionally sound, calorie scorchin, goo-bustin, ain't no body 'bout to stop this fabulosity train having week!
Ps. I did it! I stayed within my calorie range today AND got it all my water AND ate my freggies AND worked out (twice) AND ya know what else? It felt sooo good that I'm doing it again tomorrow!
