Kickin' It Into Gear!

All I want is to lose some weight, feel great in the clothes I wear, feel sexy, and not be afraid to look at myself in the mirror (sigh, and other things). It has been a very long time since I have logged into SparkPeople.com, so I'm doing it again. Since December 3, 2009, I have lost a total of 38 lbs. I started out losing my first 20 lbs through Slimgenics, and the rest was on my own. I have since, quit Slimgenics, and want to once again, start incorporating healthy habits into my lifestyle. ...

I joined CrossFit X.F.T (Twin Cities)'s Boot Camp 8-week program in June 2010. It was so much fun! Unfortunatly, with our wedding coming up in June 2011, I can't afford $100/month. So I'm doing it on my own once again!

How's it going? How's the gym? I'm so jealous. I want to join LA Fitness SO bad, but we just don't have the money. It's so close though - like I could walk there!

Small goals is great. I have to do that too. You have no idea how much will power and how much planning and prepping to took for me to do my strict 7 day thing. I think a great goal to start with is water. Drinking your water can help so, so much. I started with drinking 16 oz at lunch and dinner, then working up to 16 oz at breakfast, lunch, dinner and then bedtime. Now I drink 32oz by lunch time, another 32oz by dinner and then another 32oz by bedtime. Now my body craves it and I get a headache if I don't drink 12 - 8 oz glasses per day. And, with all that water - I eat less!

Oh, another tip that I use - eat your lowest calorie thing with your meal first and work your way up. So, if I took baked chicken, seasoned rice and steamed carrots. I'd eat the carrots first (which would also be the biggest serving) and then the chicken, followed by the rice. The hope would be that, I wouldn't need to eat as much rice to feel full because I've already eaten so much!

It's hard when you are the only one in the house on a diet. I have to still cook for 4 people and I'm the only one actively trying to lose weight. So I cook diet food because I'm cooking. But I take double veggies and my husband takes double what I eat (minus the veggies, LOL). I really watch portions and he just doubles what I do. If he doesn't want diet food, he can cook his own meals! ;)

Hmmm, still waiting for the cravings to stop but I've really been dedicating myself this week. I made a goal to stick to this think 100% for 7 whole days and I'm almost there. Now that I have (1,200 cals per day, no night time snacking, 8 glasses of water and 4 glasses of green tea everyday and using the SP fitness videos everyday) it's becoming a habit. I'm starting to do it all without thinking and that feels good. I still want to go down and eat the 3 Musketeers that I have in the pantry for the kids when they are good, but I won't because I can make it 7 days and I'm not going to spoil it now.

It's okay! I've been super busy too, and I joined a gym last week and haven't even had time to go cuz of my crazy day/night work schedule and having a million other errands to do this week. It should settle down soon so I will make time for myself! And, I haven't eaten the way I should be either. It's so hard to. I have never had to watch what I eat before so I don't know how to get used to it, I guess I need a friend around who does the dieting thing so I can watch and understand. How are things going with you??

I totally understand. That's how we are too - when life gets busy or stressful, diets are the first thing to go. Does your gym have classes? One tip is to sign up for cardio classes. You are more likely to go if you had to sign up and pay.
