I've always been a pretty thin person. I entered high school weighing 160 lbs, and being nearly 6 feet tall at the time, so it's safe to say I was underweight at that point. I starting lifting weights near the end of high school and got myself to a healthy 185 pounds, which I managed to keep for several years.

I joined the military and started smoking, which was not a healthy decision at all. Then I went to Iraq for a year, which was a major stress on my body, where i ended up smoking 2 packs a day, all while maintaining my weight until summer of 2007. Thats when I started having some medical problems that made it difficult to exersize. Besides that, my wife was living in another state at the time, so I got a bit depressed and ate a lot of fast food, since it was more convenient.

I gained weight from the fast food, and then in April 2008 I went to see a doctor who gave me some quit smoking pills that worked great. I haven't had a cigarette since May 2nd, 2008!

It was then that I decided I needed to do something about all the weight I put on. In only a years time I had gained nearly 30 pounds, from the unhealthy food, and from quitting smoking twice. My wife and I did some research on the healthier versions of the foods we eat to buy at the store, and what foods we can cut out. Then we bought some workout DVD's and started counting calories and eating in portions instead of eating until there was no room.

I'm starting to lose the weight, feel healthier, have more energy, and I've even started sleeping better.
