My Journey (Original, I Know)

Weight has been a battle I have fought my entire life. I was able to keep it in check through my childhood because of sports and activities, and into early adulthood because of high energy jobs. Everything began to slow down (including my metabolism) as life sped up. I got married young, we had children, and I justified myself slowly gaining weight because I really didn't feel that different. Everything began to slow down (including my metabolism) as life sped up. I got married young, we had children, and I justified myself slowly gaining weight because I really didn't feel that different. I began a career that caused me to sit behind a desk most of the day and required no heavy lifting. Before I knew it I was spending almost 9 hours a day sitting at a desk or in my car, and another 3-4 at home on the couch with the wife or kids - every day. Basically all I was doing was eating or resting. Time for a change!

My Goals:
I want to lose enough weight to fit comfortably into airplane seats and amusement park rides. I want to get back in cardiovascular shape so I can start playing Soccer again. I want to be here to watch all of my children get married, and play with my future grandchildren!

My Program:
Time for an update as almost 60 pounds are gone! I have stopped eating 90% of the white carbs I used to eat. I now get all of my carbs from veggies and legumes. I have significantly reduced my sugar intake, and I eat a solid amount (at least 15 grams) of protein every morning for breakfast right after waking. I do not eat any dairy 6 days out of the week, and have now switched to Almond Milk, which I love. I allow myself 1 day a week to "go wild" if I choose, but I also make sure I get some exercise in on that day as well.

Personal Information:
I am a married father of 3 children. Ages 11, 10, and 3. I love to play Golf, fish, sing, watch Football, play Soccer, play with my children, and spend time with my wife.

Other Information:
There are a lot of TV shows I like...which has been part of the problem. DVR is the greatest invention ever! How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, The Office, The Mentalist, and Hawaii Five-0 are the shows I currently watch on a regular basis. I bought a treadmill last year, but it is not in the same room as the DVR! Ugh! LOL. I still use it regularly, but prefer to listen to music over watching TV while walking/running anyway.
