i know all i did was describe negative things, but right now it's hard to be real positive. i am really hoping that sparkpeople will help me find the motivation i need.

My Goals:
my obvious goal is to lose this weight. however, the ultimate goal is to improve my health by making better food choices, exercising, and really learning to listen to my body.

My Program:
right now i am babystepping. first, i am getting a foundation of gluten free basic recipies that can be frozen and reheated. i am fairly new at using fast-acting insulin for my type 3 diabetes, so getting a handle on that is definetly a priority. i walk (w/a cane or walker) .5 miles 3x's a week right now. i know that sounds like nothing, but it is huge for me.

emoticon Greetings and emoticon

SparkPeople is something like a emoticon in some ways - it's lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place!

There are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site.

If you haven't discovered The Spark book and/or the SparkDiet linked at the bottom of the START page, check them out - the program is simple but extremely effective. There is a TON of information on this site - so much it might even seem overwhelming but fortunately we don't have to 'digest' everything at once!

Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I do - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!

Hi Brandy and welcome to SP.

You've taken the first step by coming here. Although I can't help with the health issues I can tell you the SP is changing my life. I still struggle on making the right choices, but the support and the motivation that I get here at SP is what keeps me coming back day after day. I am sure that there are others on here that have the same issues and they can help to point you in the right direction.

I wish you the best of luck and just remember, you can do this!
