my weight loss goals

I never had a weight problem intill i went over 50 and then quit smoking, so I basicly never dieted in my life until the last 6 years, I am a yoyo dieter, take off fifty, and go back to old habits and put it right back on. I hate being obese, and dislike myself for not having any will power. I did well at weight watchers, but it costs way to much for my retirement finances, also lost well on adkins, but went off at christmas in 10, when i was making christmas goodies. Also have a thyroid issue ...

Hey gal. Thanks for the sparks goodie pedometer. I know where mine is... in the trash. I keep putting them in the washing machine dang it!! And sticking it in a bowl of uncooked rice does NOT make them work again in my experience. Just a word to the wise. emoticon

Thank you very much bighair and Patti,,,,,,,,,,,,,what idcouraged me before ws losing 50 pounds, and then getting compacent and putting it back on,,,,,,,,,,,i have always been very active, drank a lot of beer also (skinny days), when i quit in 92, started replacing my budweiser with goodies & chocolate, but didn't gain more then 10 pounds. Retiring from my job as a machine repairman at Buick killed me, but i am still quite active, so i maybe gained another 10, so at around 159, then i quit smoking,,,,,,,,,,,,,wow bloomed right up to 204,,,,,,,,,then weight watchers (worked well, but to expensive) the adkins which also worked well, then off and running at old life style. Why does weight when added back on go straight to middle? My middle wasn't huge before i gained back? At 194 i looked way huger then when i was 204 before any dieting,,,,,do not understand why,,,,,,,,,,,,,is it my age? less strenuos activity? Oh, well, gonna just pluck away, try to stay in guidelines and lose lose lose!!!!!!!!!!!!please pray for all of us on this journey.

LOL are we sisters from another mother? I moved to Texas 8 years ago at normal weight. Partly from boredom and hating TX I gained about 20 lbs. Not too bad. Then I quit smoking. That was about another 20. Oh and I also tore my ACL and both menisci, so that was another 20. Then I lost my sense of smell and my eternal quest for satisfaction from a good meal continues, since 90% of food satisfaction comes from smell (so I have no sense of taste, just as if I had the world's worst cold). Ok so that was another 10 or so. Add to that a non functioning thyroid (on about the highest dose they make) I'm in deep doo doo!! But others w/ more medical problems than you or I, have lost weight. If they can do it.... WE CAN DO IT! Might be harder...might take longer.... but nothing is impossible! emoticon
