My short and bittersweet story...

I have always been overweight. I was the fat kid growing up. I was 5'9" and 175lbs (at least) in 6th grade. Being the fat kid is horrible and scarred me for many years.

In my early 20's I did the PhenFen thing. I dont remember my starting weight. I'll say 285. I lost down to 215, but was unable to maintain. That was really exciting though. That was the only time I ever lost weight.

In my early 20's I did the PhenFen thing. I dont remember my starting weight. I'll say 285. I lost down to 215, but was unable to maintain. That was really exciting though. That was the only time I ever lost weight.

Over the the next years, I lost and gained over 150 lbs. Got sick and tired of it all. Tried everything. Weight Watchers, Atkins, personal trainers, gyms, kickboxing....

in 2009 I finally decided to have weight loss surgery. I chose the lap band. I only lost about 30 lbs and starting having issues. Couldnt keep solid food down. I was always throwing up. I had a revision just over a year later to gastric bypass. I was able to go from 298 to 230. I maintained ok. Then I suddenly put on 30 lbs recently. I believe it is due to medication. Im working on it. I refuse to go back to 298 lbs.

I have my ups and downs, but damn it! Im going to do this!!

You can totally do this! It's hard to overcome ups and downs and it's also hard to get outside of our comfort zones. As much as we hate being the "fat kid" (i was too and still feel like it) being the "normal" kid is an adjustment. Stick with it. You'll find your niche and you'll love your exercise. Just take it one day at a time :)
