When I was in my twenties I used to be a yoga teacher and eat a natural food vegetarian diet and never even drank alcohol. I was in excellent health. When I was in my twenties I used to be a yoga teacher and eat a natural food vegetarian diet and never even drank alcohol. I was in excellent health. As I got older I relaxed more and got out of those good habits. I don't eat a lot of red meat and live in Japan where the diet is less fatty than in the US. But they have Hagendaz here and everythng else and it is easy to forget how much calories there are all around tempting us. I decided to "get back on track" and Sparkpeople is an incredible tool for doing it. It will help me to stay focused on my goals and I am enjoying the challenge. I think the hard thing will be further on when I am halfway there and that is when (as in many diets before) I might say to myself "I can reward myself with an ice cream" or "I'll skip the cardio today." That is where the challenge will be.

The biggest challange I have right now is getting at least 8 glasses of water. I think that is really important.

Now it's time to get on my bicycle and go for a ride around the neighborhood.

My Goals:
To lose 14 kilograms (31 pounds) by next March and then maintain a healthy weight into the future.

My Program:
I intend to try to keep within my calorie limits, hit the right balance of protein carbs and fat and exersize 3 to 4 times a week, drink 8 cups of water a day, and get more sleep.

Salads to be very filling and using simply balasamic vineger or lemon juice as dressing. Tofu is an excellent food with almost no fat. I will rely on these foods for the bulk of my diet while enjoying other foods in lesser quantities.

Personal Information:
I am Paul from Newton Massachusetts. I live in Japan. I love the outdoors and outdoor activites. I heat with wood and chop all my own fuel.

Other Information:
I came to Japan to study Japanese music; specifically the Shakuhachi a Japanese bamboo flute. I trained as an graphic artist and photographer.

Some how I happened across your page. That is so awesome that you are getting a chance to learn the Shakuhachi. I will one day learn myself but for now I just take delight in listening. Good Luck with your weight loss!

Hello, I am a fellow ethnic food team member.
First I have to confess, I have never eaten Japanese food!
I find your Spark page to be very interesting. (I am busting with a million questions.)
Right now I am here in Ipswich MA, just for a short time due to my husbands job. Our family home is near Buffalo NY.
Any way love your spark page and may I wish you the very best on your weight loss journey.
Best regards Ann.

Thanks for you comment. I hope you get your calorie range stuff straightened out--that's got to be really frustrating. Good luck!
