My goal remains to weigh zero pounds.

To stand sideways and cast no shadow.

Also to grow in height. Several inches in fact.

Everything helps that nasty BMI number - both the numerator and the denominator!

My Goals:
My overall goal is to lose 45% of my starting weight of 281. This will take me down to 155, now that weighing zero seems a little unrealistic.

For 2014 the plan is simple: to lose 1.5 lbs per week. That will bring me to within a few pounds of goal by the end of 2014.

My Program:
1. Treating the Sparky Nutrition Tracker as an unrelenting drill sergeant (i..e, the Soup Nazi).

2. No "seconds", no desserts, and no exceptions. I have become an herbivore, mainly. No veggies or fruits are safe in our house.

3. I track sodium and cholesterol as well. Male and in my 50s, I harbor no illusion over the importance of this stuff too.

4. Gym during the school year, cardio (45 minutes) and strength (20 to 30 minutes), about 4 or 5 days a week. Brisk walks outdoors, as conditions allow, on weekends. Swim laps in the summer, as much as time allows (typically 50 to 100 miles per summer). Yes, I have scales, gills and a waterproof mp3 player.

5. Using the Sparky Activity Tracker and totally floating myself away on roughly 100 oz of water per day. Oh yes, peeing just all the damn time too.

6. Maintain humor throughout the process - absolutely essential!

7. Do this with my wife, Susan818127 also here on Spark. Check h

I'm counting the days too! And wondering where I can hide….. !

Our visitors have just gone, hence my being a tad quiet whilst they were here. Bear with me, will get back to you shortly. And yes - a meet-up of some sort would be FAAAAAB! Let's do it!

Back atchya soon……

As an ex RAF Air Traffic Controller, with friends who crossed over into civilian air traffic, I have friends in ATC at both Heathrow and Gatwick! We know who you are, we know where you are coming from and we have oodles of experience at how to divert you to, oh let me think...... Stornaway? It's a pokey little place on a remote Scottish island. Everything revolves around fish and the ferry crossing to the mainland can be evil. That should keep me and my loved ones safe from the sort of transAtlantic onslaught you are offering - grin, teehee!

Seriously, by the time you get here, goodness only knows who will be governing us, with our elections just one week away. Nothing is guaranteed, other than the odd spot of rain, probably! OK, so where are you guys staying and what are you hoping to see? The Queen has been tipped off, so she may have run off to hide in her Scottish hovel, Balmoral Castle, and won't be able to wave to you from Buck House, aka Buckingham Palace.

BTW, don't be worried about the crazy rumours of bad food in the UK - my MA pals arrive for a 3- day stay on Monday and when they came over a few years ago they said the biggest surprise was how wonderful the food is over here. And it is - and, as you would expect in any major city, just about any cuisine is available. So, you will be fine, you will survive - and if you are homesick, you can tuck into a Sub washed down with heart-attack Starbucks, or a Big Mac followed by a Dunkin'Donut! Our shops even sell peanut butter! Good, eh???
