Well, I am back. . . again.

It has been a few years and I am ready to take control! This site helped me lose 30 pounds several years ago - took at least two to make it happen and I have gained back 15 of those pounds. Time to put on the brakes.

I am heading toward 66 this year and I just want to be the healthiest that I can be. Losing the weight will be a huge help - it will keep my knees, hips and ankles happy as I continue to run marathons, halfs, 5K and 10K's. And of course I want to add new challenges - maybe a longer run and a Sprint Tri. Need to start revisiting my food and fitness.

I lost my oldest sister (by 1 year and 16 days) to esophageal cancer in December 2016 and went through 2 scans recently to determine my issues - no cancer, but, some inflammation that I am currently taking medication for - goal is to get off meds as quickly as possible.

I am active - I run, bike and hike (when possible)! Love running and know that I need to add back in strength training. So, here I am - ready to be accountable!

My Goals:
Be aware of what I am doing that sabotages my good intentions-journal daily using the Daily Notes on my nutrition tracker.
Add strength and yoga to my training beginning 3/12/17
Complete a marathon in less than 6:00 hours
Complete my long runs weekly!
Keep streaking with a minimum of 1 mile per day of walking or running.

My Program:
Run club Tuesday/Thursday and Saturdays unless I am racing or volunteering - and then I have to find a way to fit in my long miles.
Hard Core Burn workout - Mondays - excellent core workout with my PT

Personal Information:
Staying active keeps me mentally happy and healthy. My goal is to inspire my great nieces and nephews to make a healthy lifestyle a part of their lives!

3/18/17 Westminster Six Pack Series - 5 Mile run - did 5.5 miles before the 5miler - 1:05 - 2nd Place Age group - additional 7 miles after to complete 17 miles of training.
3/25/17 - Walker Ranch Loop and Meyer's Ranch Trail - 13.5 miles - a bit over 6 hours
3/26/17 Spring Equinox 4 Mile Run - 56:54 - Windy run - bit chilly - & tired legs result of yesterday's hike!
4/01/17 Westminster Six Pack Series - 10K run - 1:21:56
4/09/17 Spring Prairie Dog Half Marathon - 2:56:29:16 9 and 7 additional miles for a total of 20 for training!

    Hi Betty! Nice to see you back on Spark again. I'm hit and miss. I haven't been able to run in over a year as I have 3 muscle tears (1 in hip and 2 in buttocks). They don't require surgery but the doc said it could take 2 years to heal completely.
    So I have embraced fitness walking! I did 114 miles in January and 86 in February. My goal is to get to 1000 miles in 2017!

    Hi...I also am a returnee. I joined up around 2004 and became overwhelmed with trying to manage diet and exercising and gave up till this January when I decided I didn't like the life I was living and wanted to make the changes necessary. I started by making a goal list of 50 things I would like to do in the next two and a half years. Losing 50 lbs. and becoming more active were top on my list. Since January I have lost 20 lbs. and I am preparing to run in my first 5K. I hope to draw inspiration from your example.

    Hi there! I just wanted to pop by your page and say hello. I don't know if you remember me, but we met a year or two ago when we were both doing the new you bootcamp. I saw that you're trying to get back on track, starting today. I had slipped quite a bit and today was my first day of getting back on track with my diet and exercise. Just wanted to show you some support and wish you lots of luck! I also wanted to invite you to the spring challenge team of losing 5% of your body weight. I recently joined but it hasn't started yet.
