Weight issues have been part of my life since I was little. It was hard to be a curvy teen when Twiggy was the model of the day! I always seem to find my favorite clothing stops one size below whatever I am able to wear.

SO...I am working on myself...my bad habits need to become good ones. My blood sugars need to be back under control.

Update 2011 ~ My scale is not showing progress, and it is not the fault of the scale. Today I will reset my tracker. I AM healthier and more knowledgeable than I was when I started. I MUST recommit though if I am going to achieve my goals. So, FRESH START today.

Update, September 13, 2015. As of this morning, the first day after a 12 day vacation, I have lost 3 more pounds and surpassed my original goal. What a shock to realize that. I have reset my goal for another ten pounds. I am not in a hurry, but am pleased with my progress.

Update November 11, 2017
I am walking at least a minimum of 12000 steps a day including 10 flights of stairs. I am astonished to find myself bouncing around at and just below the goal set for me by Weight Watchers around 1973! Got there but couldn't stay there. NEVER expected to see those numbers again! Other than my problematic blood sugars, I am in excellent health, staying active EVERY day and am one HAPPY girl!

My Goals:
1) Better health..lower blood sugar

2) fit clothing better..lower dress size and perhaps, fit my 40 yr old wedding gown! [2017 update} Dress is now way too big. I never did get to even try it on when weight was close...sailed right by.]

3) Feel good, like how I look

My Program:
1. Take it one day at a time
2. Do the absolute best I can
3. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

    Good morning Asta,

Yes I love my neti pot. It helps so much. I have chronic sinus issues now for about 6 years. It causes bad vertigo and just overall feeling yucky. The neti pot gives me relief for a while, but then I'm miserable again, then I start over.

Hope you have a great week, keep on keepin on!

    Hugs,

    Ginna

OH my . . . "giving up" the whites and salt, sugar and processed foods has helped 1000%. I have my type 2 diabetes under control (for 7 yrs. now) and no longer have hypertension and my osteoarthritis is so much more manageable. That is worth ANY amt. of effort to say the least! Do I miss those things? IF I do all I have to do is remind myself that no food tastes as good as being healthy feels. And for sure, those foods really don't tempt me anymore.

I appreciated your blog! I cut out sugar, salt and processed foods (the whites -- white flour, white rice, white potatoes, white bread)

Hi Asta, very nice to hear from you! Hope you and your family are doing well. Yes that was posted some time ago. It has been a difficult past year for Kim and I. Kim had to have a total hysterectomy last June 1st and has been thrust into most of the symptoms of menopause and she is miserable most of the time. I had my right hip replaced July 1st and left hip August 26th. The first surgery left me with drop foot that I am still hopefully going to recover from by the end of this year, otherwise it likely is permanent. I'm dealing with my situation much better than Kim, I feel sad and helpless at times for what she is going through. On a happy note, my oldest son is getting married June 25th and I will be giving their talk and vows, she is a wonderful pioneer sister from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which is where Aaron lives now. My other two, my daughter Allissa (25)and Austin (19) are still at home and dojng well. It has b÷n very difficult to get motivated, I should at least try to use the calorie counter on my phone.
Anyway thank you for reaching out, it may help me to do more so I can look good for the wedding and recover from the neuropathy.
