I had fun planning our wedding, but went with keeping it simple. No major decorations, just candles in a circle. Our centerpieces were actually one very dark chocolate decadence torte, one per table, with a few white flowers on it. Surrounded by small wavy glass votives around it. Colors were black and white. I aimed for a fancy restaurant feel - I never figured out all the "theme wedding" stuff. Just went with candlelit elegance.

We went with a local dance band, and asked for two songs - "our dance" and "Sunrise Sunset" to dance with my dad. Well, also had them learn "Hava Nagila" which was really funny with a calypso edge to it, but a friend brought his accordian and took over for a 30 minute Jewish music medley.

Definitely keep things as easy for yourself as possible. Also, hire a friend to be your "day of" coordinator - give her/him a checklist of anything to be double checked, such as wine, food, flowers. Tell them you trust them to deal with any problems that arise. (Problems often arise!) They should only bring a problem to you if it's major, like the vendor didn't deliver the champagne or something. Trust them.

Then forget about everything except relaxing, getting beautied, and enjoy the day!
