My current goal is to get back to my prepregnancy weight.
I lost nearly 30 pounds in the first 8 months of 2009 thanks to SP and following Weight Watchers' points system. I didn't quite reach my original goal of losing 50 pounds because I got pregnant in October! Well, my baby was born in July and now it's time to take off the remaining pregnancy weight.
I'm breastfeeding so I will continue to follow Weight Watchers' formula for nursing mothers. I have been basically at the same weight since two weeks postpartum (I'm now 15 weeks postpartum). Even if the weight doesn't come off very quickly while I'm breastfeeding, at the very least I need some extra accountability in my eating habits so that I don't let the pregnancy weight cling too long, or, worse yet, creep up.
With the baby it's hard to find time to exercise but we make an effort to get out for a walk at least every day -- it's good for both of us!
Once I meet my goal of reaching my prepregnancy weight, I'll have about another 25 pounds to lose to reach my original goal from early 2009. I may need a litlte more time to reach my goals now that I've had a baby and while I'm breastfeeding, but I know I can do it!
**About my weight**
I've always had a few extra pounds, I think for my whole life. The lowest I've ever weighed at my full adult height of 5'-7" was 135 at the end of high school, but I've become a lot fitter since then, so my sense is that a good target weight is higher than that. However, over the years my weight has consistently crept up, and at a breakneck pace the past year (settling in to a new office job), to where I reached 200 and finally said, "No way, not going there!" I checked my BMI and I had just wandered into the "obese" range. I took this as a key decision point for my life, and how healthy I would be for the rest of it. Time for action!
**About my fitness**
I used to go to the gym on a fairly regular basis before I got pregnant. Now I'm happy just to get a walk in during my day! I'll take what I can get and accept that the demands on my time and body are all about someone else these days, and just try to get that walk in when I can.
** About my diet **
My Achilles' heel. I love food and eating. I love the physical aspect of eating, I love the social aspect of eating, I love the creative aspect of cooking. I'm not going to lie to you, my husband and I are fantastic cooks! However, I've learned I don't apply enough moderation in my diet. And when I don't, I gain weight, simple as that. But the truth is I CAN exercise control over what I eat, I've done it before in my life (when I reached my all-time low weight in high school). I just need to choose to do so, and not mindlessly hope that eating half a box of cookies once or twice a week won't somehow add up. My other downfall? Beer and wine! I love, love, love them. Serenity now!!
GOAL 1: Get back to tracking my eating and WW points for 2 weeks.
GOAL 2: Get back to prepregnancy weight of 175.
GOAL 3: Get below 170 for the first time in a loooong time.
GOAL 4: Find a healthy and sustainable target weight within my "healthy" BMI. Shooting for 150, but I'll see what happens when I get there!
