Now with new motivation!

Hello everyone! I'm back on the fitness bandwagon. Like (probably) most of you, I have been on and off said wagon many, many times - with occasional successes. This time for me, is very very different.

This time I am honestly not at all concerned with "weight loss" as a goal. I currently work two jobs, have a son and a boyfriend, and all of the tasks that come along with these things. One of my jobs is very physically (and kind of mentally) challenging. I have to be on my feet, ...

I have to be on my feet, running around, multitasking and keeping a bunch of things straight in my head, lifting the occasional heavy object ... all things that lead to me collapsing on the couch when I get home, completely unable to do any of the other things I need to do. Like, make dinner, or do laundry, or wash the dishes.

I realized that I need to make an active effort to be strong, and fit so that I can get through my day without feeling completely spent at the end of it. I need to build up my stamina, and endurance. And of course, it wouldn't hurt to be carrying around a little less weight through the day as well.

But, this time the main focus is on consistency over the long term. I'm focusing on what I will do, instead of what I won't do. And, working specifically on creating positive habits that become so natural I just can't help but continue them for a lifetime.

That said: I'm a 33 year old, gluten free (for about 9 years now), mom who loves yoga, raw foods, being barefoot on the beach, socializing, reading a good book, and all things hippie/geeky/nerdy.

My Goals:
- to build consistent, healthy habits.

- to gain strength, and endurance so that I can get through my workday without collapsing with exhaustion at the end.

- to do more hiking!

My Program:
- hit the gym daily. It doesn't matter what I do once I get there. I just need to show up. I'm challenging myself to 365 days without missing the gym.

- start with salad. When I'm eating a meal, my new default is to start with a bed of greens, and build from there. I can put whatever else I want to on it, but that base tends to point me in the direction of adding lot's of fresh veggies (which is the ultimate goal.)

- be mindful. Because the truth is: unhealthy habits feel bad, when you really stop to observe how they effect you. And healthy ones feel AMAZING.

hey girl! how's your week been going? I had a hard time sticking to my raw goals the last few days- I was camping with no power, and no fridge. It's hard to keep food from spoiling with no fridge, and no blender makes it rough too. Oh well, today's another day :) Anywho, just wanted to get back at ya about that sunflower pate- it's super easy. I just throw 2-3 cups of soaked & sprouted sunflowers in the food processor or blender with 1/2 -1 cup tahini, some lemon juice, garlic, onion, chives, dash of celtic salt, and anything else I have lying around. Spinach, red peppers, etc... Pretty much just adjust it to taste. It keeps well for about 5-7 days. Hope you like it :)
