I Really Am A Success!
January 1, 2013: In 2012 I had some health setbacks, but reflecting back on the year, I have also had success. I have lowered my blood pressure. I was taking 5 different medications for blood pressure and now I am taking only one. By eating low sodium, combined with lots of veggies and fruit and daily exercise, I have lowered my Blood Pressure, dropped 7 pounds since September (see below) and lowered my A1C to 6.5. If you are diabetic, you will know what that means. So although I am still overweight, I will concentrate on the success I have had in the past few months. I plan to continue what I am doing because it is working and I am so happy about that! Oh and if you read what is below... I did not go back to work! Today is September 18, 2012. Well, first let me say that I have been on Spark since June of 2008. I have lost and gained and lost and gained... Now I am having some difficult health issues and resolved today to save my life. The first thing I am paying close attention to is my diet. This will be the difficult part. While I am home getting better, cooking healthy is easier. When I go back to work, it will be much more challenging. I plan to cook everything at home and not eat restaurant food at all. I will take my lunch with me to events and restaurants. I plan to tell the restaurants that I am on a strict no-sodium diet and have to eat this way. Low sodium is what I am eating, the DASH diet. I will not follow it to the "t", but I will watch my sodium and eat the correct proportions of protein, carbs, fruit and veg, etc. The next thing I am working on is to build my stamina and get some weight off. I am ordering a swimsuit and plan to swim three days a week at an indoor pool. Plus I plan to walk every day and I mean every day! I have been doing this about 2 weeks now, the walking, for 15 minutes a day, like the doctor said to do. So I am trying to save my life, will you join me?
