This boater chick is staying on line

So I started the journey about a year ago. I had just been to another wedding where I realized that I was not happy with myself. I was looking at pictures after the fact and realized that I needed to make a change. I had about 5 months until my 30th birthday. So mid October 2010 I put myself to work. I wanted to loose 30 lbs before 30. (I was starting at over 180)

(I was starting at over 180)
I was already involved with outdoor activities and knew I needed to step it up. I began counting my calories and "running" in the state park near my house. Those beginning runs were more like jog, walk, jog, walk but at least I was out doing something. As it got colder and the snow kept falling I still made it out at least 4 times a week. And by December my runs were mostly all running, except when I hit the 2' snow drifts.
By the time March came around and my 30th birthday hit, I fell short of my goal by 1 lb. I didn't mind at all because the transformation was amazing. I set out for my birthday weekend of paddling (whiterwater!) and had never felt so good on the water. I couldn't believe the difference I felt in my boat.
I have kept at it and at this point I am down 38 lbs from where I have started. This past summer is the best summer I have had in my boat. I have never felt so healthy. One of the best benefit that has come from the journey is the fact that I am no longer on any asthma medication (which a year ago I was on 5).
So now I want to complete the path I have started. I know I can do it because I have already come so far.

My Goals:
My goal is to become more fit and to loose some weight. Being healthy is extremely important to me. I want to be able to rock any rapid on any river.

My Program:
I started slowly just counting my calories. I have always been somewhat athletic, but picked up running when I became really motivated. I love to whitewater kayak, it is an amazing total body workout.

Personal Information:
I live in NJ, but travel to visit friends and kayak all over the north east.

Other Information:
I paddle a pyranha 420, love my little boat. I always wear my pink sparkley helmet on the river... glitter makes everything better :)

And you know what, folks who are that good sometimes get complacent so you can sneak up on 'em.
